I've heard of people being a "switch" but I was wondering if one is preferred over the other...why? My former master used to tell me that he was a "giver not a taker be it pleasure or pain"...so true and very well may I add. I on the other hand am a taker all the way...can be erotically painful at times but the rewards are countless...so which is it all? Just curious...

Is the cliche getting your cake and eating it too?? This is how I would describe a switch they at times are the Dom/me and other times the sub. The only issue is that unless matched with another switch they might not get their full needs met as there partner can't or won't take on the other role. One role is not better then the other Kiten its all about having fun and meeting your needs. One could argue its better to be just a sub or a dom because you get a richer experience too. So I guess it just depends on where you are and is it working for you at this time.

This does not necessarily make you a switch. The term/label switch in my experience is more accurately a lifestyle term and rarely exclusive to play. For many its not a cake and eat it to situation.

I read it that you think one PYL is a taker and the other pyl is a giver.

I don't see it as such.

It appears in our relationship that he, as the PYL is both giver an taker, just as my role as the pyl is both of these things

Its not all one or the other.

In serving him I am taking pleasure in my actions. Bluntly if it gave me no pleasure I would not have started down this road.

PYL's have expressed to me and on Lit that part of the domination gives them pleasure but they take from the scene as well.
