I feel sure there's already a thread like this somewhere, but I'm lazy. Sorry. :p

So which countries have you been to? Which ones would you like to visit but haven't been to yet? I'm just curious because I love the idea of traveling, but I sincerely doubt that it's something that'll happen for me in the near future. So I'll just live vicariously through others. :D

Feel free to tell us anything you want about the places you've been or would like to go. And, yes, your home country does count as "a country you've been to"!

Now here are my no doubt riveting answers to start us off.

The Extremely Short List Of Countries I've Been To

1.) The US - I live here, obviously.

2.) Mexico - I was pretty young, so I don't remember much about it, but the beaches on Isla Mujeres still stand in my mind as the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my (very limited) travels.

The Extremely Condensed List Of Countries I'd Like To Go To

1.) Everywhere else

(I had a huge list going, but then I realized that it was much easier just to put it that way. :p)

Ok, y'all's turn!

England (where I live)
Wales
Scotland
Northern Ireland
Eire
France
Holland
Germany
Spain
Portugal
USA

But I'd love to go to Switzerland and Austria :)

Of the United States, I've been to - or through - 33, plus Guam (U.S. possession).

I've also traveled to or through:
Spain
France
Italy (2 years)
Austria
Germany (both East and West (1 year), when they were separate nations)
Japan
Mexico
The Philippine Islands
14 miles off the coast of North Vietnam
10 miles off the coast of South Vietnam

Which to visit I haven't been to yet?
About 10 of the 17 states I haven't hit yet
Parts of Canada
Ireland
Much of the UK
Denmark
Norway
Sweden
Turkey (Istanbul)
Morocco (Casablanca, Rick's Place)
Brazil
Argentina
Australia (to visit my 38-year best friend, who will be moving back there {to stay} next month, and to see the Sydney Opera House, the Outback and Ayers Rock)
New Zealand
Auckland

Ah, crap - most any of it except the mostly-unsettled areas and the areas that spend most of their time in civil or other warfare.

I have only been to two foreign countries in my life: Canada and California. On my list of must-see places, I start with the essentials for someone raised in the western liberal arts tradition: England and France. Besides, all of my forebears came from one of those two places at some point way back when (so long as Scotland counts as part of England).

I've only been to 9 states in the USA. Don't really see me going too far either. Love to visit a few more states but not particularly eager to go other places though I'm sure I'd love it - it just doesn't call to me to travel.

Places I've lived:

The United States--CA, TX, AZ, and MA.

England

France

Places I've visited:

Germany

Ireland

Mexico

Canada

I like in the US.

I've been to Japan. Japan was awesome and I can't wait to go back.

I would like to visit most of Europe. Also, my husband wants to show me China and I look forward to it.

Mostly, I want to eat a lot of food! Everywhere I gave a chance to go, I'm going to eat myself into a coma.

I have been to:

USA
Canada
Mexico
Japan
China
India
Morocco
Tunisia
England
France
Spain
Italy
Malta
Finland
Vatican City

That's what I've got off the top go my head and I don't think I've left anything out.

Where I'd like to go? Everywhere. :)

Combination of work and pleasure and a few more than once

Australia - Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Surfers Paradise and lots of little places while tiki touring

Norfolk Island

Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore

England

Hawaii

Travelled around most of New Zealand, both North, South and Steward Islands.

In the US-
Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii. I guess you could count New York if making a plane change counts.

I've also lived in Japan (loved it, would happily go back) and visited the Virgin Islands and Mexico.

I would love to go to Europe.

The only place outside Europe I've been to is Istanbul. I've visited/lived in pretty many places in Europe, though.

Finland
Sweden
Norway
Denmark
Russia
Estonia
Latvia
Lithuania
Poland
Germany
Austria
Czech Republic
Slovakia
Ukraine
Hungary
Romania
Serbia
Bulgaria
Macedonia
Croatia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Slovenia
Italy
Spain
Belgium
Turkey

And I've been to Heathrow, so does that count as visiting the UK? :)

I'd like to visit the rest of the European countries and almost anywhere beyond Europe. Iceland, Switzerland, Montenegro and Albania are high on my European travel list, but for some reason I'm afraid of France :)confused:) so I can't see myself going there unless I magically learn to speak French. USA and Canada (I finally want to visit an English-speaking country) high on my beyond-Europe list, along with Georgia (the country) and Armenia (cool writing, that's a perfectly valid reason for traveling there!).

Not counting a couple more where I didn't get out of an airport, because technically airports aren't part of a country, they're the tenth circle of Hell.
