Okay, frivolous thread time!

Which appetizer (like the kind you get at TGI Friday's) do you like best? I'm writing this because I'm going out to dinner tonight, and I can't wait until then to start drooling over the pre-dinner food.

My vote is for potato wedges. Common, I know, but some nice wedges with melty cheese and bacon dipped in ranch dressing...yummy yum yum.

My God! I wish there was ONE good serious thread I could debate politics, or life, or show how big my book of quotes is...

Shrimp cocktail.

we order the mozzarella sticks and the potato wedges because I can never decide which one I want most.

I usually go for potato skins, mushroom caps, nachos grande, or one of the combos (this is at Bennigans). But anything I can wash down with beer will also work for me.

MMM I like mozzerella sticks, breaded mushrooms...have never been to TGI Fridays, do they have one of those onion things???

Buffalo wings with ranch dressing....

:p

Well

blooming onion at Outback Steakhouse is pretty damn good. I like cheese fries too. However Chips and Salsa would probably be the best all time appetizer.

I would have to say...

Mozzarella Sticks or Shrimp Cocktail...

NO, not at the same time!!!

And why the hell not Lil-Brandi?

:p

Olive Garden's Hot Artichoke and Spinache Dip. Being the incredible cook that I am though, I rarely go out.

I have worked for awhile and managed to copy this dip exactly. It is incredibly easy, but oh so elegant and yummy (great for parties) If anyone wants to know how to make it , let me know, as I will gladly expose the secret....naughty me!!!

Wait -- the beer-boiled shrimp at Clancy's Crab Boiler. Oh, that's good . . .

For the Lit members' dining pleasure this evening...

May I suggest the most appropriate dish ...

KID ROCK-y mountain oysters.

A little on the skimpy side and of not a particularly good vintage. Sour, tart and leaving a nasty aftertaste. Perhaps we should all skip to the main course instead as his testicles are not worth cutting and frying up after all.

BrainyBeauty, LMFAO...very nice...

Siren, I am gonna post it on the How to Board, so others can get it too, if they want. It'll be up in a little while. :)

POST IT HERE TOOOOOOO

:p

 OMG LMAO!!!!
This is too funny!!!!

Cover the bottom of a pan in about 3/8 in. of cream cheese, then pour chili beans over it. Sprinkle with mozzerela, brick and cheader cheese, bake at 350 for about 22 min. It makes a scrumptious dip. :)

Hot Aritchoke and Spinach Dip

Party size... can be cut into thirds for individuals

3-8 oz. pkgs, of cream cheese, softened in medium sized glass bowl, in microwave, for 30-45 seconds or let stand while preparing the garlic.

1 pkg. frozen cut spinach, thawed, drained and pressed until most of the moisture is out. You don't have to use all of the spinache, I just add it gradually to the mixture until it looks even and nice.

1 small can of un-marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped.

1/8 cup olive oil, no one ever said this is good for you!

Subjective area.

This is where it is up to you how much flavor to add.

The Garlic, I usually finely grate garlic cloves, until I have about 4 to 5 tbs. of garlic. This is a lot, but it is so good. This will also depend on the type of garlic used. Use less for bitter and strong garlics. I usuallly prefer the Rochambeau type, or Purple skinned.

2 to 3 tsp. of Crushed red pizza pepper.

Blend all ingredients in bowl with creamcheese, until mixed.

Transfer into a microwave/broiler safe glass casserole dish.

Microwave for 2 minutes on high, or more till heated.

Pop under Broiler until top is a brown/golden bubbly.

Serve as dip with toasted French bread slices, or off Wolfy's tummy, which ever you prefer, dear Siren! Kisses Everyone, enjoy!

I am so fucking hungry now

:p

Yeah, that dip is tasty.

I have another suggestion for a easy do-it-yourself appetizer. You get some fancy wheat crackers (Breton is good) and schmear this cheese stuff called Allouette on them. Then, add salsa. The combination of textures and flavors is just...*wipes drool off her chin*

And, as a side note, I am just so pleased that my thread has garnered responses. It's like watching your baby grow up *sniff*. Okay, maybe I'm just being melodramatic.
