I've been here awhile and I don't see anyone talking motorcycles.

So, let's talk! Let's see'em!
I'm still relatively new to two-wheeled thrills but I'm getting some miles down. I'm rocking a solid "learners/beginners" bike, an '06 Suzuki S40. (Pic to follow)

So, whatcha got?

Long time rider but currently no bike. My last bike was a ‘95 VFR 750, I sold it to a good mate who had wanted it for ages.
I think my next bike will be a triumph speedmaster, I’m past my dirtbike and sportsbike days, time for a cruiser. Grow the beard back out…

That's a great bike to learn on, both riding and maintenance.

Mine is a classic, just like me! 1985 Honda Nighthawk 700s.

Thanks!

Are you doing your own maintenance on your S40? They are SUPER simple to work on.
I am because they are. One carb, one cylinder can't get any simpler than that!

I'm actually trying to diagnose a startup issue ATM. But I've installed a short switch so I can still ride until I figure it out.

Now if I could find a rear cargo rack for cheap....

If I may ask, what's your starting issue?

Standard starting procedure: clutch in, neutral, hit the starter button.

Click. Just a single click.

Release the button and the lights come back on but no start.

The battery is fine. Thinking the starter solenoid/ relay was bad, I replaced it. Bike started fine for the next few rides. Then boom, left me stranded. I shorted across the relay terminals and, of course, it started right up again.

I dunno wth the problem is.

There is a safety switch in your side stand IIRC. If the bike is in gear and the side stand goes down, it kills the engine. Perhaps that's gone wonky on you? It's easy to bypass or cheap to fix if that's it.

I hadn't even thought of. I'll check it out. Thanks!
