There are some abruptly fang-like mountains like that in Cappadocia and in China, and in New Zealand, too. Maybe elsewhere. But this particular image has been altered. The ones I list are limestone, not black basalt or whatever this mountain is, so they don't look the same. Just as vertical and spiffy, though.
I believe you might be onto something. I'm guessing the Dolomites, caught in just the right light and angle (and some creative color grading in the lab), could look like that.oggbashan said:Nearest I could come were the Italian Dolomites and some of the mountains on New Zealand's South Island (as used in Lord of the Rings and Xena).
