Where Would A Doctor Seek Some "Alone Time" at the hospital?

That would depend on what you mean by "Alone Time" as well as the facility.

Many Hospitals have what are sometimes called Doctors Lounges. These Lounges are actually rooms with a locking door on them where the M.D.'s can go to get away from face to face interaction with the staff of the hospital for a bit. Some of these are actually seperate rooms with beds and shower facilities so the M.D.'s can actually maybe catch a few minutes of sleep or get cleaned up. (These are usually found in the teaching hospitals where the Interns have to due extended hours on duty.)

Watch an episode or two of Grey's Anatomy, they(the doctors) are always using that room to "be alone".

Thank you both! Wonderful ideas, but I needed somewhere he THOUGHT was private, but he ends up getting caught. Ultimate Switch helped me and I decided to have him in an unused surgical observation room, also found at many teaching hospitals.

I have only gotten to watch a few episodes of the season before last of Grey's Anatomy but I so love the show. Going to have to invest in the DVD sets.

Although the observation room is not all that comfortable...do I assume he/she is with someone else or is this an alone thing?

Even in the on call room with doors locked, other people who use it have keys, the residents and interns seem to walk in and out of that room a lot.

Hmmm, truly a dilema. The on call room would be more comfortable. But comfort really isn't the goal. But the on call room would be the PERFECT place for our ER doc to sneak off and get a little "me time."

frankly an empty patient room would be a great place

for certain activities.

The nurses use them to have lunch, breastfeed, impromtu meetings. Our hospitals census is down a little. But if I was thinking I needed some privacy, I'd use an empty room that I **think** will be empty for a while. Maybe I got the room number wrong or the nurse was just fucking with me when she told me that room would be empty.

Then in walks a nurse, the patient, the orderly delivering the patient and possibly a medical student to get the full entourage?

i'm just a medical student, so don't have full blown docs view

In the hospital where I work, everybody thinks nobody uses the stairwell. Inevitably some doc is caught doing something naughty in there. Not only does the confined space provide outstanding acoustics, but the security cameras can be viewed by all directors via an intranet link.

After a career in health care for around 10 years I can say there isn't to many places where one can find completely private time. I will say despite being a 24/7 operation at night large parts of a hospital are shut down leaving available exam rooms, procedure areas, and offices of day time support staff. There is basement spaces, parking garages, and areas under renovation.

Any time though a member of the security or cleaning staff can happen by, and there are shift changes. Me personally it never got beyond cuddling and kissing with other staffers, but there were always rumors.
