Hello there. I am finishing a 3 part story and I am not sure what category to put it in. It is about a couple. The woman is very inhibited and has a lot of fantasies. The guy starts helping her face her fantasies. These include some very mild d/s and very explicit daddy incest fantasies, which they act out in rp. But in the end, she totally gives up the Daddy fetish. Soooo... I dont think its exactly incest category. The d/s is so mild. Im thinking fetish but then its all about giving up a fetish. I think I might piss off some people who love their Daddy thing. I mean I love it but this story ends up kind of getting over it. And Im sure its all too weird for Erotic Couplings. Hmmmm any ideas??

Hi there :)

I would put that in erotic couplings, but with a disclaimer at the start mentioning the incest side of things, incase some people aren't as into that .

Hope this helps :)

I generally put any story with incest into incest, any story with cheating into LW. My more recent stories have a disclaimer with the various couplings, kinks etc so readers are forewarned. It has cut down on Anon comments and trolls.

I think Erotic Couplings sounds best. Incest wouldn't work, since there isn't any.

Hello there. So it turns out they did put this in Incest. Ok but I wrote an Authors Note thinking it would be in ER. Im getting good feedback but Id like to change my note for specific Incest readers. Do I go back and resubmit the story? Do they yank it or just update it when it reaches the top of queue? Thanks!

To edit, you resubmit the story as you want it with "edit" at the back of the title line and with a note in the Notes box, explaining what you are doing.

That said, I've looked at the note you have and don't see why you would bother changing it.

Because why would I warn Incest Readers away from a story that deals with incest fantasy? I'm assuming they're ok with it if they go to that section.

Your warning says not to expect real incest. That would be good to put on a story posted to the incest file.

That said, I think folks fuss too much with stories once they're posted. I didn't see anything in your note worth fussing about--in fact, I think defensive notes like this are counterproductive and invite criticism.

It is interesting to see that Laurel put it in the incest file. The advice on the forum was starting to trend away to incest being an override category where it's even hinted at. This indicates it remains and override category.

My warning is obviously written explicitly for "normal" readers who I think will get skeeved out by an incest-themed story found in the ER section, which has happened and happens all the time. . I'm not being defensive about the content. I just don't want to invite nasty comments. If I knew this was going into Incest I would have written a very different note for Incest Readers specifically, as I just did in the Comments section.
Thanks for your input.

If you're writing for "normal" readers, you're probably posting to the wrong Web site. :D

A disclaimer regarding the content of your story is not defensive. Its called courtesy. It also serves to save you some unnecessary flaming, people here do not like to be 'surprised" if they want incest they go to that category if they are in EC they are not expecting incest.

Selecting Erotic Couplings was probably why it defaulted to Incest. Erotic Couplings is generally a vanilla category, and the most common category choice that results in a move.

If you'd went with Fetish, there's a far better chance your choice of category would have stood.

Also, putting a note at the beginning of the story isn't the same thing as using the "notes" section of the submission form to specifically alert Laurel to something.
