Where has all the common sense gone?

Below is just one of the things I have read or heard about recently that makes me wonder if some people are born with no common sense and they may never learn to have any.

Also the dumb stuff people will do to try and become famous on social media is embarrassing. <>

So sad and so preventable - if only either of them had engaged their brains instead of wanting fame.

one needs to be willing to do anything for their 15 mins of fame and donations

I think we all have lapses in common sense sometimes, but some people have a greater natural supply of it than others. I'd say this pushes into criminally stupid territory. Still, poor kids. Awful.

I worry about The Youths. Attention is social currency more than ever. The world of tween streaming stars is very weird to me.

It's always been like this, we just hear about it from farther afield now more often. we turn stupidly into reality tv and aspiration of achieving through goal setting rather than just for fame seems less admired. Why work hard and do something few others can do when you can just play the fool?

I totally agree that we hear about it more often with almost everything going viral, mass media, cameras on phones capturing almost everything somewhere and shared for many to see.

Some of the boys I went to school with did silly things to make the girls laugh and to amuse themselves. Acting the fool but thankfully nothing more dangerous than trying to light their farts on fire.

Quite sad and worrying.

The amount of followers you have, likes or shares should not be so important to some of them.

For the most part the wrong sort of attention.

they were actually doing it for money

youtube stars make a lot of money these days

There's a whole world out there of 'Hey Bubba Lookit this! (And hold my beer).'

There was one not too long ago where some idiot blew himself up with some kind of rocket contraption.

There's even a series of idiot flicks out there called 'Jackass'.

One of mine is a live streamer. Part time as a hobby and gaming but I've read what some of the pros supposedly rake in with good content or offensive, crazy or entertaining etc.

Nothing wrong with making a living on social media.

I would just prefer they do it without a real body count. :(

I wouldn't put so much of it on social media. I can picture kids I grew up with doing something like this just for shits and giggles.

Maybe what we ought to be thinking about isn't YouTube, but why we have so many young people who think the only way out of dead end lives is to take such risks.

I've never been to Minnesota, but I'm guessing they lived in some sad ass town where the factory closed and the best they could look forward to is jobs at McDonalds. They deserve to be blamed for their stupid actions, but they don't deserve all the blame. There's more to go around.

Probably failed Science as well.

Both of them need an ax buried in their skulls. What the fuck?! And no, its not too late for the dude.

Will somebody hold the camera while I do it?

I'm a terrible person....I keep wondering what book. Anna Karenina? Count of Monte Cristo? Any of the last couple books from Fire and Ice series.... they all seem pretty thick.

Without measuring, The Stand (Full) in Hardback. And for volume of words, spilling into pages, I'd bet on that, if I had to.
