Just curious here, someone mentioned the hardware store in the chain trick tread, and that fired up the old gears. As fond as I am of Lowes, and variations thereof, it strikes me as a tad obvious.
Just to make it less than implicit, where do you go to get your gear. Other than the oft aforementioned "MOme improvement warehouse", I've gotten gifts that wouldn't quit giving in resteraunt supply stores(Tongs, prongs, spatulae, spice racks, sharpening steels, et cetera), BB&B(neroli, and other scented oils, soaps, loofahs, brushes, yaddah x 3), Grociery stores (I believe there was a thread on food around here somewhere), Equestrian Shops (the list here would be punitively long), Army Navy Surplus (Ditto), Dive shops (Ooh, neoprene!), ah, fuck it, take it away...

Geez, I must be positively perverted! Because I get my sex supplies... well, at a sex shop! (I hear you all gasp in mortified astonishment)

We have a cool sex shop here called "The Den", and it includes lots of BDSM gear (way more than I would need, since I'm not into leather or heavy bondage or S&M.) But I've bought some great leather restraints, sex toys and so on from there.

For things like massage oil, scented candles and so on, we have a store here called The Body Shop that has a gorgeous range of things like that. (Which reminds me I need some more massage oil.)

Well, gentlemen, may I join in? LOL. I don't know about the others, but I'm an uncollared sub, and I keep a goody bag of my own. Toy bags, I think, aren't just limited to you Domly types *grin*. I enjoy playing with my own stuff, as well.

Hmm. Sex shop for me too. More like a sex grocery store. Big place, great BDSM/Fetish department. Down side, I have to drive an hour and a half to Orlando. It's well worth the trouble though, there's not much they don't have. There's a place that's closer (not by much, it's still an hour drive) in Jacksonville, but they just don't carry the selection (the county laws are tougher up there). Soooo, it's off to Orlando I go.

I've also been known to drop by the obvious ... Home Depot. Also check out Hobby Lobby or Michael's. You can pick up feathers, pieces of fur, and more.

Now, to plan my next Orlando trip:devil:

OOHH! Toys!

First off, I don't usually buy the toys; D does. But I go with him a lot when he's off shopping for something diabolical.;)

Aside from the obvious, (Home Depo type places, grocery stores and sex shops...) we've found some really fun stuff at Michael's, the medical supply store (he is SO into needles), and second hand stores like Goodwill. And there's a really neat import store that has all sorts of cool stuff there. The reason Goodwill is so great is that if they think they can sell it, and it's in reasonable condition they'll put it out. So there's been a couple of times where we've found an item and not been able to figure out what exactly it was but found other wonderful uses for it.

No one here has mentioned making anything yet. D does a little bit of leather work; like floggers and paddles and cuffs (all together now "Oh MY!"). And I've done a little bit too. I made one of my least favorite floggers (D says it turned out great; but I think it's too stingy. Which is part of the reason he loves it so much, because I prefer thuddy to stingy).

And then there's the Pervertable Toys.. Things that started life as something different but was modified by some kinky person.. Usually bought in a "normal" store then modified beyond belief.. Life is so much fun when you're more twwisted than a bowl of pretzels!

toys: good vibrations, for the sex stuff. I've only gotten one dildo once from blowfish because good vibes wasn't stocking the shape I wanted then (clean modernist, with a little curve, like an Armani dildo if such a thing existed) And I felt guilty. Kinda.

Also, toys in babeland, but I like the venerable instution feel of good vibes. Damn, I feel like getting me a Hitachi cordless right now!

gear: JT, Fleet Farm, a great little vet hypo source is KV Vet in PA for those who don't pass as cattlewomen, I have some really nice work by Leather by Danny, also.

Leathercellar, anyone have any cheers or jeers from working with them?

Bump, grind, et cetera

Just couldn't let this one go, though it's response has been a bit underwhelming. Don't everyone respond at once.

Some toys and where they came from:

Floggers: homemade with a great piece of buttery soft leather, homemade from a stiff piece of suede, homemade with a piece of tablecloth vinyl, heavy handmade suede from a friend, a too expensive one that I love from PurplePassion in NYC, a pretty red leather received as a gift for Xmas, another homemade from strands of braided suede string.

Leather toys: mostly from PurplePassion or Eros in Houston (Great stores-good staffs) the "Josephine" is my newest :

A collection of whips from a tack shop that I don't remember the name of (nice and cheap)

Canes: rattan from Hanson Paddle at a very reasonable price http://www.hansonpaddle.com/ 1/2 x30in. rattan cane is only $3.65
Robin takes a while to get orders out but he is very reasonable in his prices. His wooden paddles are the best I've ever bought and well worth the price. I bought his paddles at Purple Passion before I found his web site.
Other "canes": Various plastic branches from the floral section of Michael's (check out the exotic greenery) make wonderful switches
Acrylic shade wands work great but watch the quality; the cheap ones break easily.

Paddles: most wood ones are from Hanson & Stockroom.com.
A handmade mesquite spoon bought at the rodeo, other wooden spoons acquired at various kitchen stores.
Plexiglas paddle handmade from a sheet of material bought who knows where.

Slappers: a thick piece of rubber cut to shape with an exacto knife. Glued two pieces together because it wasn't stiff enough.

Nipple clamps from Stockroom.com but then I made the same from "bodkins" (bought at a fabric store) dipped in "Tool Dip" bought at True Value.
The fabric store also had a great "marking wheel" that is used for a prickly touch. Long pointed press-on nails I've used at times also.

Cheap nipple (or ball) weights I acquired at Academy Sporting Good Store. (Dip them in Tool Dip to cover sharp points. )
I've been told a snake bit kit from there is a cheap form of a cupping set.

GrandOpening.com is my favorite site for strap-ons.

Restraints consist of luggage straps, various rope, hooks and chains. A small ladder, padded on top, with eyebolts attached is a great spanking bench. Buy only good quality cuffs, they are well worth the investment.

I've also utilized a fold up office type table covered with a cloth as a perfect height "torture table" It is easy to tie ropes to and the luggage straps aren't too short to use easily.

Heavy eye bolts screwed into the joists above the bed serve as plant hangers by day and body suspension hooks when needed.

Hair accessories (coated rubberbands, clips) work as wonderful CBT toys.

Candles from where ever I can buy the broken tapers cheap.

The old Altoids & BenGay are in the toy box also.

I've been told by a friend that the new battery powered toothbrushes are fun for CBT but I haven't tried that yet.

Time to go see what I've forgotten.

Enjoy :rose:
