I switch back and forth between Fox, CNN and Euronews. I come here to see obscure references and outrages.
 
Indeed. Whenever I see a news story from any source, I research it.
I see a lot of people here feeling superior for following the research of others...

"Following the research of others"- that's what the news actually is. If it weren't, you'd be on the scene seeing things happens. That's why all those Indy sites are so attractive to people....they feel like they are not being filtered by large corporations....when most of the time, it's just a guy reading the same news and providing alternative perspectives and analysis it doesn't make that person better at news.

The problem with "doing your own research" is typically that people are lazy or stupid or biased or all of those things at the same time.

And then you have people who distrust authority to the point where proper weight isn't given to people with experience in the area. Or they don't find alternative corroborating sources before following a lead.

The internet has made "doing your own research" rather useless.
 
I use the face book for finding out what's going on in the community. We don't have local tv, radio or newspapers, so the local businesses and government are pretty good about putting things out there.

I don't see any use for communicating with the world at large though. Twitter and instantgram and all the rest of it... a bunch of idiots teetering on the edge that often get a nudge. And those are just the politicians, not your everyday nuts.
 
Something not right about people so spend all their time with their nose glued to a screen and their fingers clicking away telling the world their latest stupid thought.
 
I'll aspire to that level of paying attention as well as
the blessed state of giving a flying fawk...

Twitter doesn't produce the news but it is a great news source for those capable of navigating the simple platform. ;)

"Making things up" is one of the few things that AJ and BoBo excel at. It's truly a shame that neither can monetize their situational poutrage, especially now that the Russian trolling gravy train has suddenly dried up. They're both forced back to a basic sustenance level, relying completely on the government dole...from the government they both loathe.
