Where can I find free downloadable sound effects on line?

I'm not much into downloading music, but I need some material for a show I'm working on, various sound effects (like rain, street wounds, mood music, etc.)

Any links? And do I need anything special to download?

Last question: If I download music, can I use iTunes to burn them to CD in tracks, as opposed to just one big file?

I just did a search for WAV files and sound effects, and got this from google:

I don't think you need anything special to download them- I don't have a problem downloading them, and I'm computer illiterate.

Thank you. I've done my Google searches, too, but most of these sites want you to first download their player, or they don't make sounds downloadable for Macintosh, or they're really just making sounds for Flash movies --

If you have Morpheus or Kazaa, have you tried doing a search for mp3s of sound effects?
