Where are the femmes at?

Lezbie here! (Historically lezbie, that is. What's the word... It's like "bi-curious", but backwards...).

Been back and forth to be honest and have come to find out that FMF is the best of both worlds!!

So wait, you haven't seen many lesbian posts, or you haven't seen many femme posts?

well i'm a lesbian but i don't know where i fit yet i'll let you know when i have the right body.

I'm a femme dyke. That's me in the photo. I do hate that people don't realize I'm gay though - I constantly get mistaken for straight. When I'm in queer space, I love being appreciated for a femme, but when I'm in straight space I hate that I get overlooked as a member of queer culture.

I don't really fit in a particular label but I'm lurking here.

I think I'd call myself bi and most probably femme and I'm definitely in a lesbian relationship since January. :cathappy:

I don't think you can really avoid it though unless you post a big sign on yourself that says "I'm a femme dyke". Heterosexuality, sadly, is considered the norm and unless you actually say anything, about nine times out of ten people will assume you're straight. I understand where you're coming from with this, even though I cannot completely empathize (sp?).

I'm 50/50 bisexual, very femme. I suspect that there are thousands of bisexuals around here. :)

Ahhh...*blush* I see. Thanks, Etoile.

I'm definitely not butch, but I don't know that I hit "femme" either. I hate makeup, don't dress up unless I have to. Part of it could be that I don't have anyone to dress up for and find it pointless to do it "just for me."

*shrugs*

Etoile :) you are human :) that is all that matters :)
And when people mistakes you, then it is because you are so damn lovely looking :)

Bi-queer (despite quite unexpectedly falling in love with a man, very queer - it's still where I live & play) and extremely femme (except when I occasionally dress in drag :catroar: ). Etoile, I so, so, so identify with your post! :rose: Neon

edited to add: I mean, Etoile, that I identify with your frustration with not always being seen as queer - bring out the rainbow jewelry, lol!

Though I find labels in general too confining, I've met some very interesting Dykes in the last couple of months that really live up to the stereotype. I find the assertiveness refreshing and though I generally am not attracted to the butchier of them, a firm hand on my thigh or the small of my back and a naughty suggestion whispered in my ear has caused me to break out in all sorts of pleasant goosebumps. ;)
