When it comes to the ACA, they'd rather pay the fine

The majority of households paying the Obamacare penalty in 2015 were low- and middle-income households, according to the most recent data from the Internal Revenue Service.

Yep, the ACA is just great for America.

I think they all are

ACA American Counseling Association
ACA American Camping Association
ACA American Canoe Association
ACA American Cable Association

These millions low- and middle-income folks would rather pay billions in fines rather than luxuriate in the sewage pool that is Obamacare.

From the Washington Free Beacon:
The Affordable Care Act individual mandate requires that Americans pay the individual shared responsibility payment, otherwise known as a penalty or a tax, if a household or individual fails to have health care coverage.
There were 6,665,480 households who chose to pay the Obamacare penalty in that year rather than signing up for Affordable Care Act coverage. They paid a total of $3,079,255,000.

$461 dollars per family.

I suspect that the majority of the Pay-the-fine families live in states with Republican governors who opted out of expanded Medicaid eligibility.

Aca

There is only one Insurance compamy for my wife to choose in my state

This year we pay $640 per month for her only with a $12,500 deductable for the bronze plan

Next year it will cost $945 for the same coverage with a $13,00 deductable

Affordable, not really

I'm retired and she makes $30,000 per year at her job

You want to know how much I pay for health insurance with zero deductible?

You mean instead of "paying", it can only be deducted from any refund they may be due. No refund, no way anyone can make you "pay".

Yeah - repeal it.

Looking forward to the response then.

ETA - and the explanation about how is is librul, Hillary, Obana's fault

A lot of it was paid by mistake according to a few articles on the subject. The whole tax code is too messy. And these ACA exemptions are even worse than the typical schedules/rules it seems.

Flat tax and Medicare for all.

Yeah, this RomneyCare stuff really sucks. Too bad it was the best the Gups could come up with to counter HRC's single-payer proposal -- 25 years ago. Their guy Romney imposed it on Massachusetts a few years later and they loved it. Then Obama took it on and they hated it because Obama. Sad.

I have an idea. Write a new OmniCare universal single-payer bill with private supplements (like now) but name it after Orrin Hatch. Yeah, HatchCare has a nice ring to it, so long as it also regulates herbals. Hatch might protest, say he has nothing to do with it. Poor baby. Just tack his name on it and it'll be a go.

But no. What the Gups will come up with is tax deductions on coffins.

What plans are available in your state outside of the ACA plans on healthcare.gov? Perhaps you may find one more to your liking.

Not sure why ObamaCare needs to be repealed, just put up another competing plan that makes sense, isn't mandatory, and allows you to get a plan that covers just catastrophic health care for a minimal price, (as well as a selection of options that people may want that offer more coverage for those that need it) and let it compete with Obamacare for subscribers, along with group plans, etc. Competition is the driver of free enterprise, and will do the job Congress has no stomach for.

The republicans have tried that for the better part of a decade and when they finally had the chance, they shit the bed.

They're totally dedicating themselves to repealing it, when they should totally just put it on permanent disregard and ignore it, it's unsustainable. It's going to die anyway.... why they're even worried about it is beyond me, other than to create the new plan that doesn't require the mandate, so nobody pays any fines, and other than that, just set up a nice list of options that people can pick from if they want to, ranging from catastrophic only to cover the planet with all the care you can dream of for the exorbitant fees you'll pay to get it.

Essentially, ObamaCare was doomed from the start, because it assumes everybody needs every health care service known to man (to include birth control for nuns and prenatal care for guys), and then scratches its head when nobody can figure out how to pay for it.
