...how do you do it?

I tried earlier today. I opened up a new submit page and filled out all the information. I couldn't write "EDIT" in the title because my title was too long. So, in the "notes" field of the submission page I wrote that I was editing my current story and would like it replaced with the new one.

Well, Lit wouldn't allow me to upload my new(er) edited story. (Some typos got past me and the editors who looked at my story before submission! :( ) I received a message saying I had already submitted a story with my title and needed to change the title.

So, how can I submit a "new and improved" edited version of my current story?

Put the note about editing in the text of the story.

Ahhhh...

Put "Edit" at the beginning of the title and as much title as will fit.

Are you sure? In the text field? I remember reading a poem by someone here and coming aross:

(put picture here)

That text made its way into the poem and there was "no picture here".

If I added parentheses around the word edit all I could fit before my title is ( . I won't even be able to put a space between it and my title. So, will Laurel know that eNothing Else Matters: Ode to James stands for "edited story"?

I did this once when my title plus 'Edit' didn't fit so I just typed "EDITED story" for the title, then put the title at top of text. It worked for me; the revised version was put up with the right title.

I've found this is the easiest way to do it too

I have my fingers crossed that this method will work! :) There's already been three views to my edit so hopefully the change will take place soon.

When a story has been edited and resubmitted does it keep the points or does it start fresh like a "new" story?
