Mine might go up tonight. It is small but very pretty. I see decorations going up all over my neighborhood.

When do you put up your tree and decorations?

I don't do the tree thing, but I like putting up blinking lights inside and on my balcony.

Someone in the apartment across from mine has one of those bargain-basement inflatable X'mas wreaths with lights hanging outside one of their windows that they never bothered taking down for a couple of years. It's super fucking dingy and shit, the green and red colors are all sun-faded and rain-grimy, but it somehow the lights on it still work. :D

This year I have a tiny gold Xmas tree, 30cm tall.
I have wrapped a couple of itty-bitty boxes to put under it, and have decorated it with coloured beads. It will go up next to my stereo on the 1st December :)

Mine's up, it's only 3 or 4 feet tall. I put it on a stand that makes it much taller. I need an extension cord for the star at the top. Damn those extension cords, there is never one when you need them. I still need some decorations and a tree skirt but it still looks pretty.

As you can see, I'm watching The Shining on tv.

Mine will probably go up this weekend sometime. I was never one to put a tree up early, but between now and Christmas, there just won't be time and I'll be working Christmas eve until th wee hours of Christmas morning, so I can't be like Des and be a proper traditionalist.

We put ours up around Dec 15th. Down on Jan 1st. People here, tend to decorate their houses early. There is no holiday after Halloween, so you see a lot of Christmas lights on Nov 1st.

Probably put the tree up in a couple of weeks. I'll probably put the outside lights up when it warms up and dries out a bit.

No tree. Just a popout 1' tall tree and some decorations. No lights on eaves troughs. (bad for eaves troughs usually). Strings of Christmassy led lights in windows. Wreath on door.

Just for 12 days of Yule. 3 days before and gone after New Years.

We get a real tree, so it won't go up until a week or so before Christmas. Don't want it dried out and dead before New Year.

I'd like to get a little tree this year. I don't have much space either. :)

Mine went up a couple days ago (before the kiddo went to visit the ex's family). I haven't bothered to decorate it though since the asshole cat seems to think it's her new resting place.

Not really sure why I am bothering this year anyway....

My fishing club sells 1000 trees at Christmas as our number one fund raiser. All fresh cut, no flash frozen. Good quality with no bare spots. $30 for 6-8' and $40 8' plus. This year is apparently a bad harvest year. All of our trees seem at the lower end of size ranges. Still nice trees but no big whoppers. Buy a 6-8 that is huge and full and it becomes a $40 tree. A huge and full 10' becomes a $100 special. This year it looks like just 6-8 and 8'+ little bit overs.

Started 25 years ago with 300 6-8 footers. Numbers went up as years went buy. A few years ago we got 50 extra tall trees in because we had enough interest. We sold 75! Was a good year for full thick trees. People quite willing to spend extra 10$.

Still lots of nice standard 6-8' for $30. We make wreathes, swags, mantle pieces and table centerpieces from trimmed of branches. Make an extra $3000 from them. Previous we would just haul away to dump. Now we have reduced waste by 50% and increased revenues. Cool!

We give large 3' wreathes to local churches, town major churches, fire and police departments free. Kids get candy canes. Last few days, deals made, charity cases given a tree if those on shift deem their circumstances true and warranting.

Sold 5 Charlie Brown tree replicas for $5 each last year. That was my idea. I hope to sell 10 this year. Sales start this Saturday morning.

On the 24th December, naturally. And it comes down on Epiphany.

Young folks today. No sense of tradition.

We used to that because every year we would decide no tree, then on Christmas Eve my dad would miss one, so we would run out and get one Christmas eve. Whatever was left would be fairly inexpensive too.
