When did this area become the general board???

:D

Indeed.

I think we may be a tad more accepting and open here in the AH, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Because thats exactly what it looks like now. lol How the times have changed!

Good question, raised many times in different words, causing many schisms.

You try posting anything to do with writing and see how many replies you get.

L & M should change the name to The Political/Logic, Flirting, Religion Hangout.

Or possibly "The Political/Logic, Flirting, Religion, and sometimes dealing with questions pertaining to writing and authorship Hangout, (but hardly ever on that last one.)"

Oh wait, I've forgotten the Trolls and Instigators in that title.

I believe it's cyclical.

The furor over politics is logical at this time because of the intense emotions over this election.

I think it will fade. A month from now there will actually be serious writing threads, helpful comments, newbies asking when will it post and even holiday contest stories.

(AND also threads about politics, logic, religion, and lots of flirting.)

;)

Having never even visited the GB, I can't say. However, while I'd like to see more discussion of writing, I still really like it here.

This question was raised a few months back, I believe.

I know when I first started writing I was intimidated by the AH. I would log on, read what the authors were posting and finally took that "leap of faith" when I saw there was some fun going on.

I love the AH. I believe that everyone who posts here is fun, loving, sexy, wild, hot....which reflect in their stories.

I must admit that I travel to the GB and have met some really fun people there as well...

Don't forget, Feedback Discussing, Vote Complaining, New Category Suggesting plus whatever it is you might call ChilledVodka's and Taltos' posts, not to mention Shameless Plugs

At least we get to discuss religion and faith here. In the GB, all kinds of windy wackos come on and spout idiocies, which almost always carry the thread off in a hopeless direction away from the discussion.

Same with political threads. Discussions are a lot more responsive and respectful here on those topics.

You want a rule about no flirting on the AH?

Fuck off if you do. Twat.

Be still my beating heart.

Cant, have I ever told you before how sexy I think you are?

;)

Lou

P.S. I'm past caring. :D

It's my fault. *nods*

Seriously though - AH has almost no trolls. It's a nice sort of GB, to my view. Though I do still think it's a bit of a far cry to call it that - since the AH is meant to be a place where authors hang out, and it still is. Authors don't just talk about writing, you know. Underneath the green scales we're still people.

Right, but I thought that was what the GB was intended for? A place to be something more than just an author and talk about writing?

Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I need to go flirt and talk politics (in the AH.) :D

If we are supposed to talk like REAL writers, we are going to have to start discussing contracts, shopping agents, comparing sales figures, and Awards purses.

You didn’t think that when REAL authors got together they talked about literature, did you?

The AH is a place to both be an author and able to talk about writing.

If we just wanted story feed back, or discussion, we'd all be in the story feedback and discussion forum.

But the AH is where authors "hang out".

And I go on at length in the discussion threads you speak of.

I didn't at first, but since I've come to give a shit about the people here, I've let them have more of my mind.

I tried to have that kind of talk on the GB and it vanishes to the third page before anyone can respond.

So is the GB.

Not as Authors, per se. I'm just saying - the AH is like a little club, where authors can be easily located, and can talk amongst themselves, not just about author-stuff, but other stuff. Hang out, in other words. On the GB, we're just litsters. On the AH, we're both litsters and authors. That's all.
