When a woman here calls you "Hun"

Here in the soggy Midlands of England a Hun is a prosecco drinking woman with a grey sofa, beige carpet and inspirational wall hangings. She wears velvet lounge wear, and makes pouty tiktoks in between school runs.

ā€˜Hun’ I’m uncertain of, beyond Biggles that is.

ā€˜Hon’ on the other hand is a common endearment around here for one’s SO.

A plague orbital bombardment upon both thy houses!

O happy mass driver! This is thy target; there smite, and let me die.

I need to stop.
Two starships, both alike in dignity,
In fair Uranus, where we set our scene...

Here's an appropriately cartoon-y image, from a game I sometimes play:

Or "dear" (or "dearie"). But what she really means is "moron".

Yes, you read that right.

Or perhaps more precisely: "imbecile".

There is (or was) actually a scale for this sort of thing: https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/moron-idiot-imbecile-offensive-history

I prefer the Irish variant: "Eejit", which can be used, it seems to me, in a self-deprecating and even more affectionate way. Though I have yet to do so.

Unless "now" counts.

Other synonyms used in this way include "simple", meaning "simpleton", or more archaically, "honest". Or more U.S. Southern: "sweet" or "well-intentioned" or "good-hearted", or even stringing them together like "dear sweet child, bless your heart".
It depends where they are from, suga ;)

I like the expression ā€œ how nice for youā€ which basically means you’ve screwed up, you selfish person

In Oklahoma, someone always calls Hun, Sugar, Sweetie-Pie, Darling, or some other holy inappropriate thing in restaurants, convenience stores, Walmart, or bars. It's just what we do.

I did wonder if the OP was thinking of you. I can't prove that of course. Overall, he's either overthinking it or being very tongue-in-cheek.
Those are not mutually exclusive. In fact it’s a good description of my ā€œnormalā€ (word used advisedly) mental state.

Yes, that is true, I suppose. But I was only speculating about the OP, since he went into some detail when starting the thread.
