......there's not one thing "toxic" about any of this Shuttle debris???

They just want to keep folks from picking it up and taking it home!

Why can't it be both, as has been announced on the news about two-dozen times so far?

Its evidence to find out what happened and to fix it. Its not some conspiracy.

IF...If terrorist acts or sabotage was involved, there may be chemical evidence. That's a fair enough reason to prevent contamination.

It ought to be left alone for evidence. I think it may well be toxic in some area but having shattered and burned that toxicity is spread out and god knows on what. I would not want my kids touching it.

By this time tomorrow the ghouls with be auctioning off chunks of it on ebay.

If not sooner........

How many people would go digging through a car accident or house fire?

I'm not trying to belittle the tragedy, just because it is unique it doesn't warrant desecrating the dead.

The only closure the families may have is the wreckage and an empty casket.

also the hydrolic fuel is extemely poisenous. In an explosion it could have sprayed everything.

Havent you all ever seen the shuttls be "detoxed" after a flight?

MAN!!

I'm impressed, EE.................you don't sound like a person who'd have problems with a lil ole pinewood derby car.

You come sit with me.....lil girl

EE, hate to contradict you, but there's no such thing as "hydrolic fuel". Hydraulic oil (which is what I think you are referring to) isn't any more poisonous that motor oil or diesel fuel. Unless you plan on drinking it, that is. I've been up to my elbows in the shit many times and haven't once even felt woozy.

The space shuttle uses several different types of fuels, some of which are toxic.

you can read more about it here:

I promise you, any debris that comes of the Shuttle is liable to be highly toxic. The chemical make-up of everything on a Shuttle is geared towards the survival of the astonauts, and not environmental concerns. One of my professors in college helped in teh design of the heat shields for the Mars lander, and the stuff they put in it is highly toxic, especially if it is burning.
