I've got two. One of them I'm not going to talk about because it still really hurts. The second one is just flat stupid. I've been fighting with my computers for about a 14 hours now. I haven't been able to get my new computer to see my old computer on the network. I'm almost in tears because I have a lot of stuff to move from one to the other and playing CDRW for three days just isn't appealing.

Well. Here's a piece of wisdom for anyone interested in setting up their own home network. Reconfigure your firewalls to allow other computers on the local network to see it.

*grumble* All those hours wasted. All those confused tech support people. Well, now I can have phone sex with Brian from the router place this time. There's a bright side to everything.

Which OS are you running on your computers?

*nm - I see that you got the problem fixed.

I had the same troubles, then found out AFTER I bought my new computer that XP: Home doesn't support networking.

It doesn't? I've got XP Pro on my new one and 98 on the old. I bought the upgrade to XP home for it, because it says right on the box that you can do home networking with it or I would have skipped on it.

I've got a few firewalls in the way. They always get in my way cause I always forget I have them and they prevent me from doing stuff for about a day's worth of trying to get around them. Then it hits me. Duuuuh, firewalls.

my computer drives me nuts it was going crazy yesterday but its fine today for no obvious reason
