There's a demented siamese cat in strip by the name of Bucky. This is one very fucked up kitty. (He makes Garfield look pefectly normal. Bucky is psycho and I just love him).

There is another animal in the strip, a dog by the name of Satch. Satch walks upright, like Bucky, wears a watch, and seems to be just an okay kind of a guy. Satch frequently makes very keen observations about life, but for the most part he is either the butt of Bucky's jibes or he simply stands around with a dazed look on his face.

Bucky and Satch live with their human, Rob and they are generally seated at the dinner table at home or at a restaurant or sitting together on the sofa watching tv. Rob is also the brunt of Bucky's actions, but for the most part he takes good care of his "kids" while Bucky runs roughshod over Rob and Satch.

I gotta believe that the writer, Darbey Conley, is totally nuts to write the stuff he does and to create characters like those three. I love the strip as I do most of the comics in the "funny papers".It's right up there with Mother Goose and Grimm, Overboard, Mr. Boffo, Dilbert and Non Sequitur.

Guess what Bucky bought for Christmas? An electric can opener. He loves to hear it make its special can opener noise because it reminds him of his favorite food. What else but tuna.

If your paper doesn't get the strip , check it out online in the comics in the Detroit Free Press.

I like the comic strips about family life, the ones with chronology and a bit of a storyline.

For Better or For Worse - Lynn Johnston portrays the adventures of her own real-life family with humour.

The Buckets - Clueless dad, frustrated mom, two wild little boys.

Zits - The joys of being a teenager and of raising one.

Some of mine are:

Beetle Bailey

Betty

Buckles

Hi and Lois

Blondie

Zits

Footrot Flats

Garfield's always been my favorite.
I'm also quite partial to The Far Side, and B.C. is good ad making me laugh.

I've always liked The Far Side, it's sort of like Twilight Zone for Comic strips.

Another couple of good ones are Boondocks and For Better or Worse.

Oh, and I almost forgot, Tank Mcnamara.

One of my favorites is Rose is Rose but our paper doesn't run it any more. Sometimes my husband will pull it off the net for me. Awww, isn't he sweet.

I also used to like Outland. My favorite has been on my frig for years. Bill and Opus are having a Men's couch club meeting. They're sitting around in their underwear telling women jokes. A woman walks up and starts chewing them out telling them how they should take a long hard look at the one thing that brings meaning to their meaningless lives. She stomps off and they all pull the front of their underwear out and take a look.

Well ok, I thought it was funny!

its not a cartoon strip but i love tank girl. i've got the first issue of deadline from england. the film was so shit. *jenny*

I love "Mutts." It's about the adventures of a cat named Mooch and a dog named Earl. The strip has a real warmth and sweetness that appeal to me.

Family Circus
Mutts
Baby Blues
Beetle Bailey
The Far Side

I would have to say Garfield
it is the one comic that can always make me laugh when I read at what he gets up to.

Mustang Sally, I'm totally with you. I love the humor when it revolves around the family. My all time favorite is Zits. This boy is MY SON!! I have kept most of them and put them on my refrigerator. There is another small cartoon that I like called Bizarro. Yes, it's a little warped, but there is always a bit of truth in it. Romanticgal, I used to enjoy Rose is Rose also, but the paper stopped printing it. Have a great day, everyone. Bye.

We've had Get Fuzzy in our paper for awhile. When it started, I really wanted to like it. I liked the concept of the dog and cat talking. But I have to say I hate the strip. It is normally just stupid and I rarely read it anymore.

I love Far Side, Dilbert, and many of the family cartoons already mentioned. Calvin and Hobbes was a favorite, too, when it was still around.

My current favorite is Dilbert.

But all time favorites have to be Bloom County and Far Side... and while I haven't read it in a long, long time - many years ago Doonesbury was right up there. Calvin and Hobbes too.

Now... the best Comics (i.e. not strip) of all time was the Watchman series Alan More and Ronin by Frank Miller. Oh yes, and CEREBUS the AARDVARK.

Bloom County, hands down. I miss it.

The Far Side

Non Sequitur

Sally Forth.

Frank & Ernest

Cheyenne== I can't believe you don't==

like Bucky and Satch! Well, as long as you like yourself. That's all that really matters.

I love The Far side, too.

I still miss the Far Side and anything with Opus or Bill the Cat (hey...anyone else still have their "I'm A Boinger" record?)

And, while I like a lot of Fox Trot, BC, Garfield, and some of the others mentioned above, when I open the paper I go to these three:

The Wizard of Id
Shoe
Mother Goose and Grimm

Can't help it ;-)

Nope, I tried to like them, I really did. Even tried reading it again today to make sure I still hate it. I do. Sorry.

Fox Trot because I have a 15 year old niece is totally into the mall

Rose is Rose, especially when she transforms into a biker chick. I know so many PTA moms who would love to be able to do that.

For Better or Worse because it shows the closest thing to a real family you can find.

I loved Calvin & Hobbes, especially the ones with Rosalyn the babysitter.

Still love Opus & Bill the Cat, Bloom County was hilarious.

Boondocks, Rose is Rose, and like others have said, anything with Bill the cat and Opus.

One Christmas, I taped "A Wish For Wings That Work", and I try to watch it every Christmas. It always makes me LMAO!
