Pegged me completely - 93% Philly accent.

"Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard."

85% midland. not exactly shocking.

eta: i'll just post the whole thing.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Heh, I'm boring. I get kind of a midwest thing going on in some of my vowels, though. Like in the word "accent," funnily enough. Ayuccent.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

You all have the accent, or non-accent, that all those weather people and news commentators strive for. I've had people react pretty dramatically when discussing how awfully people speak around here.

I know, I know. I never thought mine was too bad, but apparently it's 93% bad.

The quiz results say Midland, but since ah moved back tuh Techsus, mah strawng accent has returned. It's involuntary. It's like salmon going upstream. You can't stop it.

No shit. I was informed my accent is from the Nor'east, which is a crock (hey, it does rhyme with rock!) because I've never lived there. IRL, I've been accused of having and accent from a Cali surfer dude, to the upper mid-west, to hard core southern. Once, in England, someone asked if I was Welsh. Go figure.

That's a Southern accent you've got there. You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don't have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.

South my ass!

I have a very distinctive Deep East Texas accent.

Upper midwest accent is freaking annoying. Its actually getting stronger and more obnoxious while other regional accents are disappearing. Kind of wierd.

Well, yeah. What else would you call it except pop?

I think I'm supposed to be "Midland," having spent about 2/3 of my life in Ohio, but I guess I'm multicultural and shit.

Kind of a medley, in my case. I was a traveling Air Force brat with a Florida Cracker mother and a Yankee father and a penchant for Britcoms.

i call it soda. i fucking hate the word pop.

Nope. It said 100% Inland North. I'm born and raised in New England and have spent a year living outside of Philly and five years in Portland, OR.

the pop/soda/coke thing really should've been a part of it. i know it's not a pronunciation thing, but it fucking matters when it comes to dialect.

though i say soda by choice, so there is that.

I say "soda".

Of course, I also say "waw-ter" and not "wood-er".

I try to catch myself as often as possible, but sometimes I slip and "wood-er" comes out. I've almost broken myself of the habit.
