what's wrong with this story?

I don't read multi-part stories myself, but I get the impression the later parts do well, because the only people who can be fagged reading chapter 4 are those who enjoyed chapters 1 to 3. Or authors stop writing them if they see the scores declining precipitously.

This looks fine. I haven't looked at the earlier parts, but don't seem to need them. This part 4 sets out enough of previous history that I can pick it up straight away, and it also has a storyline of its own. The writing is consistent, and has no problems.

Possibly people are squicked by the, ahem, mixed tastes, if there was nothing in the previous parts to prepare them for that. That's all I can think of.

Thanks for the read, Rainbow Skin. What you say is pretty much what I thought. Mixed tastes again, guess I gotta figure that out.
