What's Wrong with Brainiacs?

Another problem is I've had a technical education, I know a buch of acronyms and the proper names for bunches of wizzbangs and gizmos.

Excuse me, I'm looking for a spudger and a punch tool, how about a MOD Tap and a Butt Set. I'm trying to make some Patch Cables TIA 568B and I need RJ-45s. The guy before me was incompetent and I have to straighten out this SNAFU.
Now, if you were saying that to me, I'd probably arch an eyebrow *chuckle* Not my trade :)

Omg. Totally turned on right now...Brainiacs are fucking great.

Smart men ALWAYS do it for me.I do not like a smart-assed know it all type.BUT an intelligent man will catch my eye every time. There is just something so very sexy about it to me. :catroar: :catroar:

Got to say May, that image of you it stimulating.
Thank you, Babe. You're welcome to imagine any kind of image of me you like that would stimulate you.

<<winks.

Just had to pop in and say THANK GOD! ... sometimes it feels like being able to talk about soething besides sports just isn't appreciated... :(

And I;ve ALWAYS found smart women every sexy. :rose:

I like sport, to me one of the ultimate geeks has always been the baseball stats geek. I know any number of guys who can rattle off batting averages, hitting streaks, etc..

I've been listening to a sport talk station so when someone talks to me, I can start talking about sports so I don't start talking about history, or computers, or politics.

Can I be a half-geek?

Well, I understood about half of that.

It definitely goes both ways - many men don't want to be around a female who is as smart or smarter than they are and isn't going to hide it. Especially if it's science/math/computer smarts.

I also live in a ruralish setting, and if it ain't about cars, sports, beer, or what's on TV, it generally ain't discussed.

Now that brings a really interesting image to mind. Disturbing, but interesting.

hahahahah... you'll have to explain.

I wish I could say I came up with it but I saw it on a tshirt.

I think when some of those profiles do the "Brainiacs need not apply" it's totally to alisonwunderlnd's point. They don't mind the smart so much, but it's few folks that lord their noggins over everyone else that gives smart people a bad rap with some. Maybe the people figured that anyone who would label themselves a Brain falls into the cocky "smart and I know it" category; it'd be a little weeding out process. And, some people might not like smart guys because they have their own issues, inadequacies, that they really shouldn't. But even as a guy that I'd consider "regular", I see it out there. There's a lot of geek love in the world. Ever seen the demographics to a Weezer concert?

(Only thing worse that I've seen is the girl on some site that said she didn't want any Braniacs. Nothing worse than a person that's full of themselves AND fiber at the same time.)

I act like I act because of who I am, not because I think I'm smart and trying to show off.

My father was into history, I learned history, I paid attention in school, and I have aptitudes that the military recognized for fixing things. I was in satellite communications in the Air Force. When I got out of the Air Force I got a job with an Automation Company as a Service Technician where I worked on all sorts of equipment with a myriad of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

I worked so I did have time to get a degree but I have some college classes, after I lost my Job in Automation after 9/11 I got into the IBEW at a Low Voltage Telecommunications Installer Technician, installing computer network hardware, fire alarm systems, security systems, video systems, and other related low voltage systems.

In the course of traveling I also read a lot and I have an eclectic music collection.

When I was a kid I was an adrenaline junky, got a lot of breaks, cuts tears etc.. so I picked up some medical knowledge from injuring myself.

My grandfather rented a Farm and I worked on it as a kid, was around lots of stock animals so I have farming knowledge as well.

And now I'm into sports more so I can talk about something else to try to avoid conversations where I may speak with knowledge that others don't share with me.

I suppose if I have to ask who or what a brainiac is that counts me out?

What is your hobby, what interests you. I bet your a brainiac on a subject that I have little knowledge of.

Ha there is nothing more attractive than having an intelligent conversation with a man. Being a premed student who prides herself in her intelligence, I find it hard to find a man who stimulates both my mind and my body. So, in my opinion, brainiacs are sexy as hell.

:D :nana: :D :nana:

I remember going on a first date with someone. Ya know the feeling, the ackwardness, the 'Ok, WTF do we talk about next', blah, blah...

All she did was talk about her family! Brother this, cousin that... it turned into a Jerry Springer episode!

PLEASE... movies... books... politics... COME ON, GIVE ME SOMETHING HERE!

Ah the first date senario. Been there done that. Most men I have gone out with are ready to run after the first half hour. It seems mindless men are intimidated by a woman with smarts. LOL

Really? Foolish mortals. :p

The most fun I've had going out is dinner at someplace quiet and talking about anything; movies, politics, little sports, just run from there.

my point is that some people are intelligent and aren't shy about letting you know they think they are better than you. I'm not saying that is your case.

I have nothing against brainiacs, I have a problem with people who just assume they are better than others because they say so.

Gee! Bad_Bad_LB you must be a "phone", oops, I mean CIT guy. People tell me I know a great deal, but I certainly do not think I do. So, I hope I don't come across as "knowing everything", that kind of attitude gets me going too. We all can learn more and as well, we all make mistakes.

Those tend to be psuedobraniacs, trying to make up for some deficiency they believe they have.

Or at least that is what I learned while studying under the eminent Professor Robert Smythe at Hoity Toity University. :D
