so the only thing I have open is lit and Petco.com and I'm being swamped by adult site pop-ups.

WTF?

I used to have this problem, and I had people telling me I was nuts, and that I must have had another site open, but I knew that I was getting the pop ups from here.

Someone finally gave me some advice:

Go to download.com, and look up Ad-Aware 5 (By lavasoft), and DL it. Run it on your CPU, and it will come back with any trackers that have been DLed onto your cpu from regular net surfing.

A few that I routinly clean from my cpu are: Shop Tracker, Sex Tracker, and Net Checker. They will all track your habits online, and cause the pop ups from other wise 'clean' sites, like Lit.

I run my program about once a week, and come up with 3 or 4 brand new ones (the same old ones, actually, re-dled), but the first time I ran it, I had 26 new 'componants' as they call it.

Clearing them out is a sinch, you just click the box, and hit clear. It even lets you make a back up before hand, in case you delete something you need.

The prog is also free, so no worries on money. ;)

Run it often! All my pop up problems have stopped since doing that, with the exception of sites that run FROM pop ups. You can also find pop up killers on DL.com.

No. Absolutely not. AdAware does not work anymore. Spin has a thread floating around about it somewhere. The software isn't being updated anymore, and it just isn't effective on the new things that are always cropping up.

Try this: http://spybot.eon.net.au/

Download the Spybot program. It fucking worked wonders on my system! I was plagued by porn dialers, and it cleared out that nest of shit in no time. Give it a shot. It's free.

Spybot is good, but it doesn't close. You have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete to close the program. What's up with that?

I have ad aware, and a program called Pop up stopper......I still get a ton of pop ups.

I don't know what universe you're living in, but it's not the same one as the rest of the world.
