What's the term/slang, for when a person accidentally shows their thong string?

There's a relatively common term, something like "smiling at you", but I just don't remember. Little help here?

I know something like that has multiple names too. The one I'm trying to remember, I think may be a little older than flossing.

At this point I think clearly whale tail and fish tail, including various fishes, are the most widely used. I'm still racking my brain to remember the one with "smile" in it, (diferent to your suggestion) but still, the fish tail family is a better description.

Keep in mind that time period and region are going to matter a LOT. More often than not, the slang terms tend to appear in popular music of the era, although it's open to debate which adopts it from the other. If you're looking for a particular term, try listening to music from the era you think you remember it from and see if it jogs a memory.

However, I should also mention that unless a term (or a song) makes a comeback, anyone who wasn't there for it is not going to get it.
