In my Wonderland of Lofty Ideals, I chose education. My reasoning is that in the long term, if issues surrounding our ability to effectively educate the masses were to improve, so would the bulk of the other issues presented in the poll.

Actually, all of the above is for the person who has thought through the various issues and realizes that they all have implications for each other and there is no way to address the issues of one without addressing the issues of the others.

It should actually be 15. I wanted morninggirl for another board and signed up for hotmail with it, they suggested morninggirl2. Since Michael Waltrip inspired the name, I was going to use his number 15, but I looked at it wrong and thought the l5 was 15.
I've kinda grown accustomed to the 5 now and since my students will almost always be 5, it's a good fit.

Where I live, the stockcar is in the front yard (often on blocks...)!
I don't have a stockcar, but I fit in because the barn is closer to the road than the house and I let my neighbors (my spelling sucks when drunk) use it to store whatever in and they keep putting critters in my front pasture...
It's about time to call it a night. Been splitting wood on a day that feels like Spring!

Of the ones listed that I was given a choice of, I chose healthcare. I get very tired of people having to suffer and die in the United States because of the crooked insurance companies.

A better way to do it would have a sepreate question for each issue, then have the respondent rate each issue. A 1-5 rating system would ge a good spread.
I know this can not really be done here unless you make multiple threads, you probably thought about this WD, but just in case you didn't I thought I would put it out there.
I voted for education since everything else springs from that. You can tie every other issue into education more directly then any of the others.

People do not suffer and die because of "crooked insurance companies." People suffer and die. In the United States, if you check into a hospital, they have to treat you. If you cannot pay your bill, they have to deal with it. So deal with it!

I agree with MissTaken. If people are educated, even at a very basic level, some of the other issues would be addressed.
I am amazed at what our education system is doing for many social issues.
Accountabiity.
Tolerance.
Compassion.
Developing Self Esteem.
These are all being taught in my child's school. A very slow process this change, but I look at the social changes in my lifetime and can be proud that, even with this country's inertia, things are moving ahead.
