What's the longest you ever waited to get a story posted?

My first submission was sent in 7 days ago. Since that time I have submitted 6 poems and all of them are posted already! Meanwhile my hot letter to a close friend still says "pending" and I can't wait to have you all read it!

How long have you waited to have a story posted?

Just curious,

I guess nobody but me really gives a shit!

it seems you have a problem with patience -- can't wait for your story to be posted and give up on getting a response in only 31 minutes.:p

The longest it's taken for a story to post for me was 21 days or so -- that was my How To Essay.

Stories get delayed for all sorts of reasons and seven days isn't all that long.

One tip -- do NOT preview your story when you check to see if it's posted! That moves it back to the bottom of the submission queue and delays it just that much longer.

The reader's choice awards have just wrapped up, you can always expect delays when a contest is going on.

Patience? I must look that up, I don't believe it's in my vocab.

Thanks for the tip old fart!

I guess I should just shut up and be happy people are reading my poetry!

It depends partly how you submit the stories. If you copy and paste, it is faster but if you email it, then it will take longer. Poems take less time because they are usually shorter.

Thanks for the reply Boxlicker!
But I am afraid Weird Harold is right! I have no patience. Where CAN I get some? I need it right now!

Well if you don't have it (patience) already and plan on sticking around...don't worry. It will grow. This is a busy place, lately, and many people have been seeing two week time frames for posting. Many things could slow it down, but never fear...it will surface before long. It's always a tense time for a first story and once you get that out of the way, it won't seem so bad on subsequent submissions. Welcome and enjoy.

Ok,
Look at me now all cool and kicked back with my shades.

Actually I'm just pretending to be patient, but I guess that's progress! :)

Syn

Shades or no...if you really are in Napa Valley, I'd suggest a nice Merlot to help you with your patient waiting. ;)

~lucky (in love with the Valley...not saying which one)

I am in Napa! Beautiful in every season but the mustard is just starting to bloom and yellow is my favorite color.

Merlot and sexy women-you have good taste!

Thanks for helping to occupy my mind while I wait!

Syn

Yellow is nice, but Red (Merlot) does me right every time. Sexy women...ahhhh. A topic in and of itself. I was in Healdsburg two years back and fell in love. Have friends in Santa Rosa and only wish Texas was as lovely.

I'm proud of you. Your patience seems to be growing with each passing hour. You will let me know when your story finally posts, won't you? Also, if you already have poetry online you should have a link to it in your sig line so people can access it more easily. Let me know if you're interested.

Ok,
I'll bite (if you ask nicely) how does one get a link and a sig line? Hmmm?

I appreciate all help.

Pending!

Syndra,

The longest I have waited was 9 days for my Incest Story to get posted. The Valentine's Day contest was in progress and I think during periods like that it does take longer. The important thing though, is not to open the story while it is pending, because then when you resubmit it, it goes to the back of the queue again.

Good luck with your first, hope it is well received.

I rather enjoy pending...

So long as there is a guaranteed submission in it somewhere.

How do you check the status of a story? You said that when you "checked" on yours, it was pending. Where did you go to check it? I submitted my first story at least three weeks ago, and it hasn't been posted yet. Being new to the site, I didn't know that you can check on stories.

Any info that anyone could give on this would be most appreciated.

Are you *still* waiting for it to be posted? Blimey!

You need to go HERE and log in using your Lit forums usename and password. Then go into "Submissions" and "View". You'll then be able to see the status of it.

Oh, and btw, I haven't forgotton I owe you an email. I'll be getting onto it soon. ;)

When you open your home page, click on "submissions" and then on "view". If the story or poem is posted, it will give the date. Otherwise, it will say "pending". Once it is posted, you go to the same place to see the number of views and the voting by readers. If it is on pending, DO NOT look at it unless you want to change it because if you open it, the story will start all over again as if it were new.

Things do seem a bit slow. I submitted an audible poem on Sunday and it is still pending on Thursday. I would expect that from a story but a poem is usually poosted faster.

Hi, Lou.
I guess you beat me to answereing him but this is not the three word story so I won't delete my post.

Ah, yes, I beat you to it, but yours was much more comprehensive and satisfying - which is a very good thing in my book. ;)

Thanks to all!

I am still pending, but I don't feel nearly as uptight about it now that I have all of you keeping me company!

Thanks to everyone for the help and support!

I'll be sure to let you all know when it finally posts!

That's the right attitude, hang in there girl, it will get there. :)

We're always good company, eshpeshially when we've had a drink or two. ;)
