Between Porn and Erotica?
Between Lesbians and Dykes?
Gays and Queers?
Tomato and Tomato?

A quote from a book i recently read.

"Erotica is porn that women like. Porn is porn that men like."

Siskel and Ebert?
Bonnie and Clyde?
Rum and Coke?
Smith and Weston?

Porn and Erotica? Litaporn doesn't sound as nice as Literotica

Lesbians and Dykes? My best friend is a lesbian, except when she is drunk and loudly pronouncing to all within earshot, what a dyke she is.

Gays and Queers? Gays are great, Queers are my in-laws.

Tomato or Tomato? Well it all depends on whether they are being served with potatos or potatos.

It's in the roots of the words. "porno" is from the greek, and refers to prostitution, i.e., sex for money. "Eros" refers to love.

Love or money--it's easy.

the background music
the size of the pick-up truck
the amount of eyeliner
the price of the meal

One has an almost sophisticated flair to it, the other refers to the same thing in a base derogatory term.

Generally I think of erotica as either being soft-core porn or a more "clinical" term for porn, such as with penis and cock. Erotica is artsy, porn is trashy.

A lesbian is a woman who sleeps with other women, and I think the word has a more feminine quality. Dyke is a woman who not only sleeps with women but acts in a more traditionally male manner: beer, sports, auto repair, etc. A lesbian politely turns down a man who hits on her; a dyke cuts his dick off.

Gay and Queer are fairly similar, although queer does have a bit more negative connotation.

With pronuciation differences, I just assume regional differences. Nothing more.

It's a valid test! If it comes from Brunching Shuttlecocks, it has to be! :)

Porn makes me hot, erotica leaves me bored.

I would go the other way. I think of porn as being professional, I hate seeing people that look like they want to get it over with and get paid. Same is true for the written version, I want a story, background, plot, real characters, not just "OH yeah baby fuck me, fuck me harder, ohhhh your so good..." blah blah blah
