Clearly stories land on the Hall of Fame list of each respective category by rating score in part, but it seems there is more to it and I'm curious to know what it is. Is it ratings score based on some total rating ratio? Some view count or age of the story threshold?

The Hall of Fame in each category is the top 25 stories from the Top List in the same category. The stories are rated by score with ties broken by the vote count.

I had to look around to find the Top List, but it seems like it's cleared up the mystery...

From what I see, it's based on rating AND the story has be older than 30 days.

Never heard the 30 days rule before. Don't think do. The story needs 100 votes though.

There are three top lists for each category, all based on score, all using the vote count as a tie-breaker.

The 30-day top list is stories from the last 30 days. It contains 250 stories, so in most categories it contains all the stories from the last 30 days, ranked by score.

The 12-month top list is the 250 top stories from the last year.

The all-time top list (which is used for the hall of fame) are the 250 highest-rated stories in the category with at least 100 votes.

Ah ok, that's it then and I drew the wrong conclusion -- a lot of stories less than 30 days old don't have that many votes. Still, I knew there was something else..!
