What's the best way to clean a flogger or slapper?

I was asked this recently (by a patient none the less) and I don't know the answer.

Background is a female caught an STD from their boyfriend. I gave the usual advice. 7 days no sex after completing treatment, clean toys, yada yada yada.
Apparently there were lots of various toys involved in play, several weren't waterproof. For instance a leather whipps and flogger.

Anyone ever heard a good answer?
