The playlist is long. Blues, rock, jazz(thelonios monk) classical, oh billie holiday and diana krall anytime.

I love so many bands. Hard to pick. I love live cds. Lets see, Hendrix life at the winterland. Allman brothers at the fillmore, Pearl Jam anywhere.

Dylan. "the pump don't work cause the vandals took the handle"

OH my. Voodoo chile. Stevie Ray for the power and clearity, Hendrix because he is transendent.

My playlist is varied. I listen to all types of music. Classical, Jazz (the type without vocals, mean Sax), Rock, Metal, pop and even alternative.

My favorite band used to be the Scorpions, Triumph and someone most of you likely never heard of called Zebra.

I love the lyrics to some of the Smashing Pumpkins songs, Goo Goo dolls and Candlebox songs (and I get REAL frustrated when I can't understand them), too many to mention.

Guitar can be real subjective. You can't mention guitar without mentioning Vai, or Satriani or Malmstein.

And for one hit wonder (OK, maybe more than one hit in this case)
for me -

Filter - Take a picture
Four Non-Blondes - What's going on
Tal Bachman - She's so high
The Verve Pipe - Freshman
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
No Doubt (Don't speak & I'm just a girl)

Extoll the virtues of your Favorite bands!

Rock for the car
Jazz when relaxing at home
Easy Listening (Soft Rock or is that an oxymoron?:D) at the workplace

One hit wonder's?

Vanilla Ice

Millie Vanilli

Simon Ligree and the Misers sing the theme song to Apocholypse Now.

The last I made up.

Sorry feeling goofy.

Today, so far

Robert Johnson,
T. Bone Walker,
Red Hot Chili Peppers, and
Masterpieces of Traditional Chinese Music,
But now, I'm off to listen to El Rushbo. I hope it's Tony Snow or Dr. Williams.

Then we're going to an annual Yule Rite/Party at some Wiccan's house and the music will really be all over the place.

*Incubus
*Godsmack
*Creed
*Puddle of Mudd
*Sublime

old

Love the early British bands.....

Kinks
BEATLES
Etc.

Collect anything Beatles and read on their history. Probably is boring to most but I enjoy going to Ebay and seeing all the stuff for auction on them.

Sweeeeeeeet!

I have no particular favourites either, right now on my playlist,.......

Goes from ac/dc to george strait, and anything in between........

I love it all rock, pop, rap, r&b, country, 60's, 80's, alternative, jazz, whatever name they give it it's all good to me.......

my favourite lyric writer however has gotta be Ben Harper at the moment............

07 - FOREVER
Words and music by Ben Harper

Not talkin' 'bout a year, no not three or four.
I don't want that kind of forever in my life anymore.
Forever always seems to be around when it begins but forever never seems to be around when it ends.

So give me your forever.
Please your forever.
Not a day less will do from you.

People spend so much time, every single day, runnin' 'round all over town, givin' their forever away.
But no not me.
I won't let my forever roam and now I hope I can find my forever a home.

So give me your forever.
Please your forever.
Not a day less will do from you.

Like a handless clock with numbers an infinite of time.
No not the forever found only in the mind.
Forever always seems to be around when things begin but forever never seems to be around when things end.

So give me your forever.
Please your forever.
Not a day less will do from you.

My musical tastes are all over the board (Not this board, just all over the map)

Right now I'm in a Bob Seger/Chris Isaak mindframe. I just got a "bootleg" cd for Xmas of some really old Bob Seger stuff (late 60s) that was an eBay purchase from some guy in the Netherlands. This was Segers more racy, rockier time. Ramblin Gamblin Man is an example of this era (probably my favorite album of his). Anyway, one song in particular is "Ballad of the Yellow Beret" sung to the tune of "Ballad of the Green Beret". It's all about draft dodgers etc. I'll have to post the lyrics (if I can post, I've been having trouble starting my own threads lately, posting to others works, starting doesn't).

Others on the list:

Chris Isaak
Steve Forbert
Marshall Crenshaw
Cheap Trick
Tom Petty
George Thorogood
Queen
Steve Miller
Blue Oyster Cult

I loved all the 2nd wave UK bands...in the eighties.

Duran Duran (they're reuniting too)
Depeche Mode
old Cure
old U2
Paul Young
Simple Minds
Eurythemics

Beyond that, in my mp3 playlist atm are all kinds of folks:

Elton John
David Bowie (mostly early stuff)
Liz Phair (whitechocolatespaceegg)
Fiona Apple
JoyDrop
Tori Amos
Queen (I love Queen!)
Bette Midler (mostly 40s and 50s era covers)
Marillion
George Michael
Sister Hazel
Pink
Matchbox 20

I've also got a new blues CD that I really like...it's a compilation and has Ella on it, BB King, of course, and lots of other folks.

I don't particularly care for the 'classic rock' genre; I never really have. I like some things because of the nostalgia value, but in generally, I wouldn't buy it for myself.

One hit wonder: Nik Kershaw - "Wouldn't It Be Good" circa 1983...he really should have gone somewhere...he's actually really good.

:D

I enjoy different sounds to fit with different moods. British rock has stayed my sentimental favorite through the years.

  • Favorite Group: The Beatles.
  • Best lyrics: Gordon Lightfoot; Bernie Taupin and Tim Rice.
  • Best guitar: Eric Clapton; Mark Knopler.
  • One Hit Wonders: Any "hit" from 70s and 80s.

These are the CDs my mood has desired (which will explain my state of mind at this time!)::p

Greatest Hits: Bryan Ferry/ Roxy Music;
The John Lennon Collection;
Greatest Hits: Eurythmics;
The Beatles: 1;
The View from the Hill: Justin Hayward;
The Verve: Urban Hymns ("Bittersweet Symphony"):D
and
Grammy Nominees 2000.

Just added to group as gifts received:
The Ego Has Landed: Robbie Williams
Bonanza: Christmas on the Ponderosa!:D

I don't think of Country as music, but if you want to know what MY problem with it is (besides finding it unlistenable). And before I go into it, I will admit to liking the lyrics to more than a few country songs, it's when they warble them I have the problem.

let me illustrate with the following actual country song titles -

Get Your Biscuits In The Oven And Your Buns In The Bed

Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through The Goalposts Of Life

Get Your Tongue Outta My Mouth 'Cause I'm Kissing You Goodbye

Her Teeth Were Stained, But Her Heart Was Pure

How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away?

How Can You Believe Me When I Say I Love You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life?

I Changed Her Oil, She Changed My Life

I Don't Know Whether To Kill Myself Or Go Bowling

I Fell In A Pile Of You And Got Love All Over Me

I Flushed You From The Toilets Of My Heart.

I Keep Forgettin' I Forgot About You

I Wanna Whip Your Cow

I Would Have Wrote You A Letter, But I Couldn't Spell Yuck

I Wouldn't Take Her To A Dawg Fight, Cause I'm Afraid She'd Win

I'd Rather Have A Bottle In Front Of Me Than A Frontal Lobotomy

I'm Just A Bug On The Windshield Of Life

I'm The Only Hell Mama Ever Raised

I've Been Flushed From The Bathroom Of Your Heart

I've Got The Hungries For Your Love And I'm Waiting In Your Welfare Line

If I Can't Be Number One In Your Life, Then Number Two On You

If Love Were Oil, I'd Be A Quart Low

If My Nose Were Full of Nickels, I'd Blow It All On You

If You Don't Leave Me Alone, I'll Go And Find Someone Else Who Will

If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too?

Mama Get The Hammer (There's A Fly On Papa's Head)

My Every Day Silver Is Plastic

My John Deere Was Breaking Your Field, While Your Dear John Was Breaking My Heart

My Wife Ran Off With My Best Friend, And I Sure Do Miss Him

Oh, I've Got Hair Oil On My Ears And My Glasses Are Slipping Down, But Baby I Can See Through You

Pardon Me, I've Got Someone To Kill

She Got The Gold Mine And I Got The Shaft

She Got The Ring And I Got The Finger

She Made Toothpicks Out Of The Timber Of My Heart

She's Got Freckles On Her, But She's Pretty

Thank God And Greyhound She's Gone

They May Put Me In Prison, But They Can't Stop My Face From Breakin' Out

Velcro Arms, Teflon Heart

When You Leave Walk Out Backwards, So I'll Think You're Walking In

You Can't Have Your Kate And Edith Too

You Can't Roller Skate In A Buffalo Herd

You Done Tore Out My Heart And Stomped That Sucker Flat

You Were Only A Splinter As I Slid Down The Bannister Of Life

You're The Reason Our Kids Are So Ugly

I think the dropkick me jesus one, which I incidently know the words to..eeeeeeek!......is actually bluegrass

I might be wrong, however.

Not a great country fan myself, but you've just gotta love these!!:p

I can't believe everybody missed the ultimate one hit wonder... The Knack with My Sharona.

I listen to anything and everything from Rage Against the Machine, to Deep Purple... from Ella Fitzgerald to Sonny and Brownie... Brahms to Grieg.

I love Blues and have a fairly decent collection. Classical rings my bells late at night, and Metal and hard rock does it for me during the day.

Journey
Phil Collins
Genesis
Led Zepplin
Def Leppard
AC/DC
Uriah Heep
Moody Blues

Mozart
Rachmoninov
