ghost writing

hey everyone. i would like to know if anyone has ghost written, if so, what is the going rate for a new ghost writer, that is one without a reputation.

I have been offered $50 per story (about 2500 words) (12 pages or so) I went on line and the professional ghost writers assoc says $.50 a word, that seems high on th eother end.

Anyone have any information?

Rates vary a lot, but 50c/word seems closer to the mark for professional quality writing. $50/2500 words is 2c/word, which seems very low even for a beginner.

According to this site, Australian publications typically pay freelance writers about 50c-$1.00 (AU) per word. Different country and different branch of the industry, but maybe useful as a sanity check - and those writers get credited in publication.

Another way to look at it is to figure out how long it takes you to write 2500 words, factor in whatever time it takes to get your employer's requirements, and convert that into a rate per hour.

I'm wondering if you received the same email I did, from someone claiming to also have stories on this site and is offering to pay a ghost writer. I haven't contacted that person back, though. Often, things like this are the beginning of a scam.

I think I've been getting that one too.

I wonder if someone would go through the trouble of reading what I write, making comments, asking for a finished story and then .. seems a lot of work for a scam. On the other hand, no more work than writing a story. I know $50 seems ridiculously low, but if I can pump out a couple a week it would be a good addition to my pitiful SS income. But thjen, maybe that's what he's counting on. I wonder............

Why don't some of you other respond and see what happens. If that is, no one has anything better to do.

Beats me. I've made deals and gotten paid through someone contacting me through Literotica, so who knows for sure what's a scam and what isn't?

As far as ridiculously low, How much have you made previously for erotica stories? If less than $50, $50 isn't low for you to write a story--until/unless you can establish your stories are worth more in the buying market.

A lot of folks don't clear more than $50 on an erotica novel they've dropped into the marketplace.

My thought would be they are looking for you to write it for $50 and then they are going to publish it under their pen name.

$50 is a gamble as it can take some time to get that back. Then again $50 is an easy number if you are dumping it into multiple outlets.

And I doubt he read your work I am sure this is a "form" letter sent to many authors.

how much

Actually I kw he read the story germ I sent because he responded specific to the characters, etc.

And yes, that is exactly what I was thinking. $50 is more than I am making now! I think I can set it up to avoid a scam. I mean even if he is making 2000 or 20000 then he knows something or has connections I do not have, so I'm thinking What the hell, if it doesn't take me too long per story.

???? Decisions, decisions

Thanks all

Go for it. I don't see any reason to suspect foul play, unless he asks for sensitive information such as a bank account number, SS number, or something similar.

That's a good point.

To the OP if you're going to do this get a paypal account to handle the transaction. They will never divulge your information.
