So what is for supper tonight? My mom's dad used to ask that to us as kids all the time. It was a way of him saying that he was hungry and wanted to know what was up.

I am gonna grill salmon steak and eat it with steamed soybeans and an iceberg lettuce salad. I need to eat healthy. Last 2 nights I have fed on one of my weird meatloafs.

Iceberg lettuce? Want to eat healthy? Don't eat that it has no nutrients you got to eat Romaine lettuce that's darker green.

Well, I will confess. I exhausted my supply of red leaf lettuce. Iceberg is nice- especially when you cut the head into quarters and just dive into it like that.

I hit Wendy's tonight for a Mandrin chicken salad. They are so good! It's in my fridge for later.

I think I beat you all tonight

After tiring of not cooking for myself all week, I stopped off at my favorite down home cooking restaurant on my way home. Beat the Friday night crowd. Oh man! And yes, I know I just consumed my monthly requirements of fried and carbs, but it was soooooooo good. My tummy's happy now.

Fried green tomatoes, fried okra, corn on the cob (they screwed up on the green beans, but it's ok), the world's BEST chicken fried steak, baked potato and fresh yeast rolls straight from the oven.

I was full after the vegies and roll, so I get to have it all over again tomorrow night. Yeah me!

I finished up the eggplant parmasan I made earlier in the week, tossed salad with balsamic vinigarette. A little stilton and an apple.

The thread title reminded me of the movie The Odd Couple--sounds like something Oscar Madison might have said. I always think of the scene where Oscar and Felix are fighting, and Oscar make reference to the "spaghetti" Felix made for supper. Felix, exasperated says something like, "see what I mean, you don't appreciate what I do. It isn't spaghetti, it's linguini." Oscar picks up the plate, hurls it at the wall, pasta an sauce and shards of china everywhere, and says, "Now it's garbage."

Ooh, riff! I love steamed soybeans. I have some in the freezer that I had forgotten all about. I'm going to eat some of those, and a piece of pizza, and maybe a slice of jam and bread for dessert. It doesn't sound like a very organized meal, but I think it will be yummy. The great thing about this meal is that it's all meant to be eaten by hand, so I don't even have to wash a spoon! Yay!

Although salmon steaks do sound awfully good....

Got some lasagna and Italian bread from the employee lounge before I left this evening. Coupled with a glass of red wine, and yum.

I am having a BIG cup of coffee. I will pay. I will be awake late and will wake up early and have to go pee at least once while I sleep, but, ahhhhh. My nose is titilated and it tastes like heaven.

I cut down to one cup of coffee a day a couple of months ago and allow myself an extra on Fridays.

I love Fridays!

I made pilmenis (sp?) with butter, vinegar and hot sauce.

okay, i didn't make them. But i cooked em! damn good too!

Uhh...cheetos (the puffy kind) and a coke. *blush*

Ya know, riff...I was just talking to someone the other day about the loss of the iceburg wedge salad. As much as I love my greens, there's something intensely comforting about a nice, old fashioned salad.

Nora

I'm disappointed in you. Jews always have Chinese on Shabbat.

Shrimp with sugar snap peas in black bean sauce.

I'm so jealous, Miles! Yes, I know. I'm a shame to my tribe. I was dying for some garlic shrimp, too.

I'll make up for it tomorrow with clam chowdah cooked over the light of my havdalah candle.
