Breakfast for dinner sounds so yummy, but alas we are out of eggs and have no breakfast meat.

Maybe tuna fish sammiches or quesadillas- hump day ease is truly appealing

Fajitas with red onion, red and yellow bell pepper, zucchini and portobello. Deliciously spicy tomato sauce made from scratch.
Sour cream with garlic.
Homemade guacamole.

And my first ever lemon meringue pie. (Which wasn't quite to my taste, but my American friend appreciated the gesture and said it tasted just like it's supposed to.)

Chicken wraps with cheese, sour cream, black olives, and pico de gallo. What a great thread. Looking forward to finding new ideas! :)

What I would call good old fashioned American Grill Faire

Beef steak
Baked potatoes
Corn on the cob
All off the grill

I'm going to try my hand at flatbread (a copycat recipe like Quizno's)

And I found a recipe for something called Cantelope Crunch I might try too.

Cantaloupe Crunch

INGREDIENTS
3 cups cubed cantaloupe
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, mix together the cantaloupe, lemon juice, sugar, flour, 2 tablespoons melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Transfer to a 9 inch square baking dish, and spread the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the cake mix.
Bake for 45 min or top is browned

Penne and bacon, spinach and pea sauce with a ton of garlic.

Porterhouse steaks from a beef we knew by name
Corn from our garden, with home churned sweet cream butter
Mashed new potatoes from the garden
Coleslaw from the garden
Cucumber and tomato salad, home grown
Maccaroni salad, made from scratch
Home baked flatbread
Herbed cream cheese spread, from scratch
Cubed mellon with strwaberries and cherries, you guessed it, home grown; also topped with home made whipped cream.

And cupcakes- from a box, with canned frosting.
But hardy har on us, they were dry.

Good god, woman! Share!!

Pork tenderloin marinated with lemon, a touch of chili and garlic.
Ovenroasted beetroot, parsnip, swede and carrot with rosemary and honey.
Parducci Zinfandel.

Food was great, wine wasn't. It was ok for a cheap bottle that just happened to be sitting around when I was in dire need of wine, but it certainly wasn't the greatest match.

On the menu tonight:

Country style pork spare ribs, barbequed
Twice baked potatoes
Stuffed mushrooms
Asparagus, maybe corn too
Melon cubes
Flatbread
Herb cheese spread
Cheesecake

God I love Labor Day weekend!

Whole wheat penne pasta with garlic, spinach, chick peas and parmesan cheese with a side of fresh pineapple.

Baked Southwestern Chicken, garlic smashed yellow taters, tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette, fresh plums, and broiled asparagus.

Its nearly 8:30 and I have no idea.
Worked a twelve hour day and had a bored, sorry, board meeting tonight.
I'm thinking grilled cheese would be a major accomplishment.

I do have some commercially prepared seafood salad and crackers, maybe we'll do a quasi antipasto/crudite/tappas looking amalgamation.

Zander with butter and chives.
Zucchini and carrot strips.
Mocha pie.

I'm marinating Adobo skirt steak that will be grilled along with the corn on the cob. I also plan on having a balsamic drizzled salad of spinach, feta, walnuts, jicama, & strawberries and a side of warmed flat bread of course.

Tonight... baked chicken, strawberries, cucumber, feta, & tomato salad, and a side of warmed home made honey oat bread from this morning.

mmmmm...chili-peach ginger chicken stir fry, with red onions, snap peas, peach slices, chili sauce, fresh ginger and garlic.

Homemade pizza. Wholewheat and rye dough, yummy sauce made from fresh tomatoes and a ton of garlic and basil, mozzarella and arugula. And olive oil.
