CnC, I did some digging, because I was confused.

Saag paneer and palak paneer are not the same thing. Saag means green vegetables and palak means spinach.

So palak paneer is saag paneer, but saag paneer is not palak paneer.

Maybe you can still have saag paneer. Just ask if they have used spinach in it. :)

That makes sense - and rings a bell now that you say it so plainly... Thanks! :)

That does sound yum! I had to look up ajvar, had never heard of it. Great Scrabble word as well :D

And of course I want to know about your bread, seela?

The česnečka came out great. I was worried the caraway seeds would put me off, but it was good. The whole house smells like garlic. :) The salad was yummy with a mustard vinaigrette.

I'm afraid there's not much to tell about, it was a regular bread and regular bread rolls, I just used whey as the liquid. No sourdough, no exciting ingredients. Oat and rye flour and some wheat to get the right texture to the bread. One of these days I'll try teff in bread, too.

I need to make česnečka (although I'm gonna make cesnaková polievka, because Slovakia :)) too. Maybe next week. This week is J's birthday week, so we only eat his favorite foods and sadly cesnaková polievka is not on the list foods he wanted to have.

Today we're having pizza, Margherita with caramelized balsamic red onion.

An entire week of favourite foods... I like that!

It is maybe the best thing about birthday week. For me too, because I don't have to plan what we eat. :p

I'm somewhat surprised by this year's selections. A lot less meaty than I had mentally prepared for. I'm definitely not complaining!

Česnečka wasn't originally the plan, but I wanted to make something to help Mister feel better. :)

That's what you get when you write before waking up.

I meant caramelized red onion with a splash of balsamic.

It wasn't that far off, most of the key words are there. :D

I understood. :) I love both red onion (which I haven't had in a long time) and balsamic vinegar. I reached up to find my vinegar almost out and I really wanted it last night. So I'm jealous.

Panfried perch, roasted parsnips and carrots, sauteed spinach, fennel and green apple salad.

I just put an approximation of the lasagne collar described together.

I cannot decided whether to cook it through now /before I go to get G and re warm later, or to risk train disruption and put it in the woodstove as I go out. I don't want it too be ruined if the train is late. :(

Oh! I hope it turns out good! Let me know :)

That's interesting; I've heard you're supposed to use scalded milk when baking bread? I think I've maid maybe 3 or 4 loaves in my life.

You can use almost any liquid you wish. I've used at least juice, vegetable soup, buttermilk, whey, water and milk.

And as stated recently, I just made breakfast bread where I used coffee and milk in place of the water and milk that was called for. It was nom :)

Vegetable soup sounds interesting! Now I want to make Italian bread using tomato soup...

It was really good, G especially loved it, and thinks its nicer than any other vegetarian lasagne he has had. :rose: I loved the textures and tastes. All these vegetables are delights for me.

I had a surprise too,

G brought home birthday cake!

This is very funny, because its not my birthday, but the shop was throwing them out last night because of sell by date so G got this (Image snip)

It made me laugh.

Hooray! So pleased your lasagne was delectable :)
Love the cake!! What a lovely surprise  It's beautiful!
