New Oven Update for Cookie:
I've used it several times for different foods and find I hate that the entire oven needs to be wiped out each time. Pro side of that is it's a small oven. Bacon was a disaster in that regard!
I have been happy to air fry squash and sweet potato fries with good results. I have also baked some chicken successfully.
We attempted airfrying some 1" thick pork chops and had to worry that the dripping grease would catch fire. Adding water to the drip pan resolved that little heart attack but it took a bit to clear the smoke.
I was rather excited to use the rotisserie feature but now I'm not so gung ho. I'll definitely have to babysit it closely.
When you take out the fry basket, there's no way to set it down without burning something or making a mess especially if it's drippy. We have figured out to have a sheet pan ready to set it on. And oh yeah, I wash dishes by hand as there's no dishwasher in my tiny house so that's one more pan to wash.
It really puts out a lot of heat to the kitchen on the airfryer mode but for baking/roasting I definitely prefer it over my large oven. There's a lot less heat.
One other weird thing - there is no OFF button. The manufacturer recommends leaving it unplugged when not in use.
That's all I can think of at the moment. I really enjoy having another oven but there is a definite learning curve to use the airfryer.![]()
Oven pasta with all sorts of bits and bops I had in the fridge that were close to going bad. Like a bendy parsnip and carrot, kohlrabi, spinach, a few cherry tomatoes, some leftover chunks of cheese. It turned out really good despite my doubts.![]()
Did you get the Instant Vortex Plus, like I did? I already have a Ninja 4qt basket that I love, so I wanted this style for my second AF.
Try putting bread down on the drip pan to catch the bacon (or any other) grease. Some people use these as croutons. I use the old bread that needed to be thrown out anyway.
Like you, I'm not happy about having to put my food on something when I pull it out. Dishes are done by hand here, too...and there's very little counter space. The Basket style keeps everything contained, and it's just the right size for 3 big chicken thighs.

I'm fixing Honey Garlic Chicken with broccoli in the Instant Pot at the moment. Double batch to share with my parents and to food prep.
I got this: https://www.amazon.com/COSORI-Fryer-Toaster-Oven-Smart/dp/B0895G46CG
J subscribes to the "Tim the Toolman Taylor" school of thought when purchasing things for me.I'm excited to try some beef jerky though and happy I don't have to use the big oven.
Made meatloaf with mashed potatoes, corn, and biscuits tonight. It's my favorite winter comfort food.
When someone mentions biscuits, the first thing that pops into my head is chocolate chip cookies with whatever else was served with the biscuits, now a meatloaf. No matter how hard I’ve tried to train my brain, I always get a vision of chocolate chip cookies in my head. I know what American biscuits are, but still... I wonder if that’s ever going to change.![]()
One of my best friends is British, but he's been living here in the US for years. It still throws him off when we say we're having biscuits with dinner. I suppose we could tell him we're having scones or something, but that just doesn't sound right either.
THE BEST!
Fuck Chik-fil-a and their anti queer stance!
That sounds awesome!Seafood boil tonight. Shrimp, crab legs, clams, and some sausage and veggies. Should be yum.
Ribeye
Baked taters
Sautéed onions and mushrooms
Salad was Campari tomato with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, salt, pepper, olive oil and good balsamic
You know, I usually don’t do it until the summer, because I grow tomato and basil in my garden, but the tomatoes were ripe, and the basil was SO fresh.
It worked out.

Homemade fish tacos.
Why can’t I cook a white fish, like cod?
It’s always rubbery.
Maybe over cooked Fara. Depending on thickness of filet, 2-3 minutes each side and let rest for a couple of minutes after.
