What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

I want pictures. That drumstick would be bigger than a baseball bat.

There are pretty small kangaroos though, aren't there? I think their drumsticks wouldn't be quite baseball bat sized.

Or are the small jumpy things wallabies? What's the difference between a kangaroo and a wallaby anyway? Why do I know so little???

What does kangaroo taste like? Is it gamey?

Very lean red meat, a little gamey. Closest thing I can think of to it is venison.

IMO it's close to alligator meat.

Hmm. I've never had alligator, but I've had crocodile and that was nothing like roo. White meat, somewhere in between fish and chicken.

It's mostly size. The larger Macropodidae species are kangaroos, the smaller ones are wallabies, and in between there are a few wallaroos. My dinner would probably have been red kangaroo, the largest species.

Oh, and there are also tree kangaroos, which are more wallaby-sized.

Oooh! I like that idea!

I made small ? 4" pies (pot pie size) and put the leftover pumpkin in custard cups after adding a little bourbon.

It was a last minute decision that actually paid off. :D

Does that become something of a pudding shot?

Thank you for the kangaroo info!

Meeks those cups look cute and tasty!

Mushroom pasta. Black trumpets, yellowfoots, wild enokitake.

Tomorrow or Sunday I'm making chicken meatball soup.

I am going to try a mac and cheese made with butternut squash, it is a vegan dish.
We shall see! :)

Oldest kiddo is home from school and making a cheesecake (Yum!) and I’m going to make a couple soup options. Those and turkey day leftovers will get us past this first winter storm.

I finally made the chicken meatball soup I had planned for a while. Despite all the thinking of making this I hadn't made any concrete plans on what ingredients to put in it, but it turned out nicely.

That looks great, seela!

I finally finished up the turkey in a casserole. I’m looking forward to something with tofu in it.

I've been watching baking shows and now all I want to do is bake.

Oat and potato rieskas. Rieska is a type of flat bread. They're super good. :)

Has anyone tried infusing protein powder (ideally soya but whey if you must ...) into cookies or brownies?

I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks for making it taste almost like real food.

Long stemmed cauliflower, broccolini, steak, chanterelle sauce. Probably more pecan pie for dessert.
