What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Looks good! I love flank steak; once it was a cheap cut of meat, now, not so much so.

Broiled red snapper, tomato salad with grated onion dressing, tofu miso soup and rice with natto. The miso was going to be different, but I failed at making aburaage so I decided to just put the uncooked slices in the soup. :)

Breakfast: Toast with pork sausages and scrambled egg. I have a surplus of tomatoes, so I'll probably toss a tomato into the pan as well.

Speaking of breakfast - French toast.

I make the bread dipping batter with eggs, milk, cinnamon, mace or nutmeg depending on how I'm feeling, orange extract in place of vanilla, and some zest. Butter and syrup are all it needs to disappear.

One of these days I'm going to try it with almond extract and some different spices - maybe allspice - but I'm not sure exactly which ones yet. I'd think a saucy peach or apricot compote would top that combination very nicely but it's still in the experiment planning stage as of now. Might even make a good waffle.

Today was National Grilled Cheese Day.
We celebrated appropriately. Nothing fancy. Cheddar on white.

Curry soba tonight. I'm craving bamboo so I'm thinking I will purchase some soon.

Make 5 spice soba with pork ribs or bone-in chops instead. Just add some soy + brown sugar and it makes its own broth (if you brown everything really well).

Oh it looks so good!

I made veggie patties, rice and green beans with sesame seeds and a dipping sauce. Everything turned out really, really good, even though it was all just thrown together in dire hunger without giving it too much thought.

This looks great. Veggie patties sound really good right now.

Just started a pot of spaghetti sauce.

What kind of sauce?

I'm definitely going to make them again. I put a ton of lemongrass and ginger in them, that made all the difference. :)

Today we had baked salmon and asparagus. I'm out of cooking mojo again, but tomorrow we have people coming over, so I really need to get back in the groove.

Tea with toast for me.

Except the toast took the day off.

Fucking toast.

Waiting for the yogurt cake to finish baking. I was left out of the Easter dinner conversation so I wasn't really prepared. After asking today it was decided nobody did anything about a dessert. I had everything on hand for the yogurt cake and I figure it's a very nice and lightly sweet cake that is perfect with coffee so it will a treat.

Marinara, my grandmother's recipe (using recipe in the absolute most limited sense of the word).

Yellow cake with butter cream frosting. Maybe some rainbow sprinkles on top if I can keep everyone's fingers! out of it.

I need to run to the store and get some French Vanilla ice cream too. Just b'cuz.

Singular Cornish Pasty at brothers place, Key Lime pie for desert, store bought (Edwards)
