I was up waaaay before my early meeting today, so I used the time to provide something tasty.

They look so cute! Like savoury petit fours :)

They are smaller than the usual baseball type size of a regular rice ball. Though, "regular" doesn't quite work because it's a food that typically has very loose requirements and is incredibly versatile. These are as big as my hands could comfortably mold is what I'm saying. :D

Cake donuts are not my favorite, but this is really tempting. @_@

Cake doughnuts are a lot more work than they should be. Are you, then, more a fan of Krispy Kreme-style doughnuts?

I don't really like cake style at all. I can easily pass them up. Krispy Kreme OTOH... don't let me see the Hot Now sign I have no will power. 🤤 In high school my husband would down a dozen easy.

I had you figured for a Hot Now kinda gal. :D

Agghhhh!

Today I found the gourmet salt on the internet for purchase that I've been rationing while using.

Yay me!

Can I order it? Hell no! They don't ship to the US, only Europe. I'm so bummed!

My stepson brought us "flor de sal d'es trenc" as a gift and it's a taste of heaven yet so addictive on roasted veggies. If anyone ever makes a trip to Mallorca, I want to place an order! LOL

Any one have a good molè recipe?

Given my location I can get mole at any have grocery store... so no :(
But I did make it some years back when I was visiting up north. I used a crockpot recipe, because I felt that was the only way to get a good approximation of the layered and complex spices. It turned out well, but I don't recall which one I used. I would suggest that method, though. A Google search for "crock pot mole" returns a bunch, I say pick one and fly with it!

Am I missing a pun here? I feel like there should be one there. :)

At a glance, it looked like quite a few of the dishes involved no cooking. Thus "no hydrocarbons were harmed" because there wasn't much cooking involved in preparing sushi, carpaccio etc.

Ah, yes. True. :)

But I'm seriously craving vegetables now, in whatever form. We're not used to eating so much meat. I'm glad J concurs on the veggie weeks issue.

I get like this. After the indulgent foods of vacation we always look forward to vegetable rich home cooking. :)

I especially enjoy that it's J that suggested a veggie week. When I first started to cook vegetarian roughly every other day, he was a bit suspicious, but now some of his favorite foods are vegetarian and he picks vegetarian options in restaurants as well. It's so healthy to cut down the meat consumption a little.

And it's J's birthday week, which means he can pick all the foods we eat this week. Every year I'm worried it's gonna be Indian goat curry and steak for the entire week, and every year I'm glad to be wrong in my assumption. :)
