What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

^Thats purdy. Also, thanks for previous comments, I'm always behind in this thread.

I should look into this jello cake. It looks really fun and tasty. :)

Tonight's dinner is steelhead trout (the other salmon ;)), eggplant couscous and a chopped salad of avocado, tomato and cucumber.

Oh goodness, google shows amazing images of these, like glass paperweights with flowers in them, along with other intricate designs. I just couldn't do it, but I bet Meeks could.

They sound sweetly, indulgently good.

Yes! If you have the patience and inclination, watch a YouTube video on how they are made. So awesome!!

(^-^) I looked into the gelatin cakes. They're really lovely and coconut and coffee gelatin sounds super delicious. If I get the chance I think I will try some before attempting making one. The process is time consuming.

Speaking of time consuming, I'm going to try and make candied watermelon rind. :) I hope it comes out well.

We had leftovers today. Carrot and orange soup, wild boar sirloin, asparagus, avocado puree, quick pickled gold beet and "striped" beet, quick pickled cucumber, red beet and rosemary sorbet with chocolate tart and pistachio crumb.

Tomorrow it'll be pike with something.

Cool! Let us know how it turns out! :)

Leftovers seela, really! *sniff* How terrible that sounds :p :p
I would eat them all!

Is this what your striped beet looks like? We call these candy cane beets here. I love them, and the golden ones :)

Yep, those are the ones. We just call them stripe beets and the golden beets are yellow beets, we're simple and humble like that. ;)

The food turned out really good yesterday. I was happy, everybody else seemed to be too. :)

Awesome! I fed a lot of different people recently on the trip I took. I was lucky in that all the meals turned out well. It's a relief when you can pull it off!! :) Feels good.

I would put it on a shelf and look at it and I wonder what Freud would say about that...

That you have a harmful lack of femininity, are prone to homosexual tendencies and that you clearly didn't ogle your father's genitalia enough between the ages 2 and 7 and you're substituting the subconscious desire to do that by ornamenting a cake.

You require 4, 30 minute, sessions of medical waterboarding and must replace all furniture in your house with giant cylindrical objects and you may be cured.

Yea. *sigh*
I get that a lot.

Pan fried pike, broccoli, half a sweet potato, teff and cottage cheese muffin and yoghurt sauce. Also had a simple tomato. It turned out way better than I expected. The pic didn't, though. :D

That looks lovely, seela. I don't think I have ever had pike. Is it strong, or mild?
And food pics never seem to want to cooperate. I know my food always tastes better than it presents on camera

Pike is mild, except pikes caught in small, muddy lakes in summer can taste a bit unpleasant and really big pikes tend to be kind of bland and really dry, almost woody.

It's also one of the more annoying fish to fillet, I find, but this time I did a pretty good job. :)

I have only butchered fish on few occasions.
And I use the word "butchered" very pointedly :p
