Wilford Brimley?

And do you have any favorite grumpy old men characters?

I just saw him on a TV ad hawking Liberty Mutual insurance for seniors. He did not look good at all.

He may look older than dirt, but I think I remember reading he was much younger in reality. Maybe only 64 or 65 years old? Wilford, that is. Not Ambrosious. :D

I know the Board is a little slow this morning, but what motivated you to pull this particular thread from its richly deserved obscurity?

I have enjoyed watching Wilford Brimley act and actually had been wondering what happened to him when this thread was posted. So, when I saw the ad I remembered the thread.

Did Lil-Brandi's thread EVER make it to page two?

jcgirl-He was in a couple of movies about the Ewoks from the original Star Wars triolgy.

Some movies about the ewoks? Huh? I love the star wars trilogy but I have never seen any movies about ewoks......

He also played the grandpa on a Sunday night TV show at least 10 years ago where Shannon Daugherty was the teenage daughter of a single mom (a soap opera star who I also don't know but she went back to the soaps after the show was canceled.) There was a big smelly basset hound on the show, too.

Anyone good at TV trivia? I always lose on the entertainment questions in trivial pursuit.

You had me digging through some old VCR tapes. The movies were made for TV and called "The Ewok Adventures". There were two of them and eventually they were offered for sale at video stores. I taped them from TV.

He played a grandfatherly type character called Noah.

I think the series was called "Our House", it used to be on Odyssey. Deirdre Evans played the mother, she went back to "Days of Our Lives".

Yes, he was the grandpa on "Our House" and he was also in "Cocoon" and the Quaker Oats commercials.

IMDB rules!

If you're interested, check out http://us.imdb.com/Name?Brimley,+Wilford on the Internet Movie (and TV) Database for more than everything you ever wanted to know about Wilford Brimley.

My favorite recent role was when he played Henry Atkins, Postmaster General on Seinfeld.

Ohhhhh okay. Now I can picture him. The oatmeal guy. He did oatmeal commercials for Quaker instant Oats. The show was called Our House I think. But the soap 0pera star was Deidra Hall, from Days of our Lives

Yup, that's the one. Our House.

Now you see why I never get the Entertainment trivia questions correctly answered! I actually watched that show and still couldn't remember the details.

Junior Mints... I want my junior mints...
I don't want a watered down cherry coke or 25 lb nestle crunch bar.....

I drug this thread up again because I just found out Wilford will be on a TNT or TNN show coming up with Tom Selleck. The thing about it is he plays a cowboy with real long hair. Ought to be a hoot.
