I've started writing part of my story, but got tired of referring to the main character as "she." I need a real name.

What would be a good name for a woman who is good-natured, "tom-boyish," possibly bi, and haunted by a violent past? Also, her best friend is female, a little more meek, definitely straight, and has a good sense of humor too. I can't think of a name for her either.

Other than that, the story's making good progress, and I'm already on page three. By the way, what's the page limit for stories?

How about a gender-neutral name such as Shelby. I also like women names that are somewhat masculine such as "Alexis" and "Taylor."

I'd go for something like "Samantha" for the first girl. A very femenine name that can easily be tomboyed by shortening to something like "Sam".

As for the shy girl, maybe some kind of flower name, like Rose or Lily?

For the tomboy, I'd say Chelsea, cos... it sounds like Kelsey, and that to me sounds like a masculine girl. For the shy girl.... Pam, or Shea, kinda quiet.
I don't think there's a page limit. The minimum of words is 700 I believe, so knock yourself out.

I think any female name that begins with a consonant would be fine.

My 2 cents,
Mia
