Invest and grow the economy as a world leader? Or stagnate and be left behind by the rest of the world, where many are growing much quicker?

The problem is you boost your economy and brain drain the globe even more than Europe, yet don't drag the poorer elements of your society up with the average. Britain and Europe might do that too much with hand outs but there's a balance in the middle. Now the poorer elements that were left behind in America have dragged down the selfish fat cats (fat cat's fault) and f-ed it up for the rest of the Western World too.

But in 50 years when the se-saw finishes tilting, the fat cats will all be dead and my grandkids will be learning Chinese and Indian in school not English and I'll be too old to learn it so thanks for that corporate America At least the food will be better and we won't all be eating McDonalds though so every cloud!

I'd figure that we would be okay...that is if the average American consumer isn't thousands of dollars in debt. I don't know about y'all but I have been ding the Dave Ramsey plan to pay off my debt, so the gov't doesn't have an excuse to place me in involuntary servitude or house me in one of their newly built FEMA prisons.

The Dave Ramsey plan is 1)Make a budget 2)Create a small emergency Fund 3)Pay off debts, starting from biggest amount to smallest (regardless of interest rate)...paying minimums on everything except anything extra is aimed at the targeted debt. Once one balanced is paid off...that monthly amount is then stacked onto the minimum of what you paid on the next targeted balanced...and so forth (calling it a debt snowball). Once debts are paid off (not quite including house...unless it is doable),ratchet up your emergency fund to last you 6 mos if living expenses, then start up your retirement fund, kids' college fund and whatnot.
