For those of you who have stopped fighting your gay sexual desires and lead a gay lifestyle, what was the turning point? When did you decide to shake off those preceived taboos and give into your true desires?

For me, I always knew and was not inhibited by my family. My first same sex kiss was during the 2nd grade for heaven's sake. Personally, I don't have a turning point, but I'm sure some others do. :rose:

Yeah, same here. I think for me since I was in the crib! I can't think of when I wasn't out. I was very lucky cause it was no big deal with my family. I think my first boy kiss was when I was 6 or 7. I always fooled people since I have that "guy next door" look. Or as some people like to describe as "straight looking". Although I find it very interesting to hear about other peoples' stories who came out much later in life, or when was their "turning point" to lead a gay lifestyle.

I came out to the first person when I was 18. The reason I came out was because a close female friend started to have feelings for me and I admitted to her I was gay. I regret it in a way though because she went back to her ex and he had started to become abusive towards her. Luckily she eventually got away from him and found someone better. I feel really bad for the people who don't come out to thier families and friends till they are 30+. A lot of my family still doesn't know and I feel like just telling them when they say stuff about me getting a gf but I'm afraid I'll piss off my mom. It's kinda annoying in general that people assume I'm straight. I wish I was more gay-acting, so I wouldn't have to sit and tell everyone. :p

I didn't know there is a "gay lifestyle". I think there are many gays and bisexuals who live their lives exactly they would if they were straight...

Well, the fact that if you're not heterosexual or straight automatically puts you in a "gay lifestyle" whether in public or in private.

I never noticed that I was attracted to males too. I guess because of my family upbringing. When I was 18, I worked with this really cute gay guy. I told him that we should go out sometime. We went out and I felt suprisingly comfortable. We got back to his place and I wanted to fool around with him. The fact that I wanted to and had thought about it was significant to me.
Eventually, we had sex. From that experience, I found out stuff about myself. For example, I was nervous about anal sex. Yet, I loved it!

Well, I think it affected me in that I always have GLBT symbols about me. At first, I used to do it so those of the same sex won't wander if I'm gay or not. Now, I use it more for visibility for anyone. So others won't think...esp, when they're growing up that they're the only ones out there. :rose:

Never had to fight my desires, only the prejudices of others.

Can we please not ever use the word "lifestyle" again? Ever? Please?

Gotta go rinse out my mouth - too much tooth dust in there now.
