What was the best Christmas/birthday/holiday of your choice present you ever received, your absolute most favorite that you'll never forget? Shopping season is here, maybe we can share ideas. What was the gift and if you were a child at the time, how old were you when you received it?

I was married and had my first child already ... my husband bought me a opal ring and hid it in a ornament.. then he wrote and poem for me to lead me to it. I treasure the poem more.

That week the StudMuffin bought the chaps and...

Oh my. Um, well. It was a really short week and there was, er well, oh my.

I'll have to dig those out so he can give me that for Christmas and maybe thanksgiving. Veterans Day, good, Vet's day too. My anniversary too, yep, he's the perfect anniversary gift.

I hope we have enough pain killers *sigh*

Okay, now I'm depressed.

My very best Valentine's gift ever was a positive pregnancy test for my second son.

(Worst holiday ever rushing that now 5 week old angel to the ER because he was throwing up blood on Thanksgiving)

He had to have surgery and looked so sad in that big hospital bed but I got to take him home from the hospital on my birthday and that was the BEST birthday present I have ever got.

Best gift ever - an unexpected bouquet of flowers from my husband (then fiancee) who was overseas for my birthday. I hadn't expected to get anything and so when I got home and found this incredible bouquet waiting for me I was stunned.

A paper daffodil made by WitchsKat in preschool. It graced my desk for years, until it finally disintegrated.

Well, I can't seem to stay inside the lines or follow the rules today. Let me tell ya 'bout my worst presents ever instead. They're much more interesting and fun. The funny thing is, they were all given to me by the same person- an eccentric aunt. All within 3 years of each other. Keep in mind I was a teenager.

Gift 1- a giant green plastic container with an orange lid. We learned later that it was a carrot crisper.

Gift 2- The next year- a lettuce washer/salad spinner.
Did the woman have some sort of weird fresh food fetish?

Gift 3- I was 15 and she sent me one pair of striped neon blue pantyhose and a necklace with a holographic pendant the size of a grapefruit.

Sure- just what a normal, well-dressed, cool teenager would wear. HA! These things traumatized me for years! Although thinking about it now, the first two presents would come in handy if I knew any rabbits! :)

Back on track though, the best present I ever received was one I gave myself. My first computer. It has brought the world to me. Right into my living room. Where I can sit and talk to everyone wearing nothing but that stupid hologram necklace. If I wanted to. But, I'm not.

I'm totally nekkid. ;)

4 years ago, on Thankgiving Day, I took my friend home from work. We both worked in a bar. I never left. Two years later to the day, we were married and I made her my fantasy goddess. It had to be the best Thankgivings I have ever had.

My best ever "present" ever was around my birthday... It was during the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore year. I received a phone call on my birthday from a guy I had had a huge crush on throughout all of Jr. High. The previous summer my "best friend" died (okay, it was a pet rabbit, but I had her since I was 9. I loved that damn thing, and it was the first pet I had gotten attatched to.)... Anyway, that guy came over to my house. He kept asking me "what's wrong?" and "are you okay?" (God I hate those questions!) At some point I broke down (I didn't want to) and started crying...told him about my rabbit, etc. He just held me in him arms and let me cry for the longest time. After a while, he kissed me. It was my first real kiss...first French kiss. By the end of summer I found out that he was moving to North Carolina. I felt yet another great loss that summer. So, that phone call from him the following year to wish me a happy birthday, and to see how I had been doing, was the best present I had gotten in a long time. ~sigh~ Damn, I'm a pathetic, hopeless romantic.

Last year for Christmas, my mother gave me a garnet and marcasite choker, which I wear almost everyday. Every time I wear it, it reminds me of the last time she was able to hug me.

The best present I've ever given was to my ex. For his 21st birthday, I gave him a daughter.

What Alyrahh said. :) But second to life...

Tickets to RENT - from my fiance; not for my birthday, not for Christmas, but just because I wanted them so much. The best part is: even though he thought it would be stupid, he went with me anyway because he knew that's what I wanted.

Ironically, after the show, he was raving about it long after I was. As hokey as it sounds, the best part about that present wasn't the tickets themselves, but the chance to go out on the town with the guy I adore. It was a perfect evening.

Well, that's too easy though I doubt it will help anyone out for X-mas shopping this year. It was the Smith Corona that I received when I was sixteen. Admittedly, I use my computer now almost exclusively but sometimes, I like to hear the pounding of the keys (even if electronic); it seems to stimulate a different kind of creativity. Does anyone else still use a typewriter, or am I an old man at the age of 30?

when lava gave me that...oh wait n/m....right ummm...my best would be...ummmm....when i ummmm....when on my b-day during my freshman year's my g/f came over and she and i frenched ;) heeey, it was a damn good kiss, it sorta lead to making out, so you know it got better, but my worse, was the year after that, when i found out she was going out with a total ass of a guy and i wanted to kick his ass...in which i would have but i couldn't get a hold of him, he always was around her when i had a chance...and i didn't want to infront of her.

My best present ever would have to be two years ago, on my anninversary. He got his second Kidney Transplant and that was the best present I could have received. And there can never be anything like that feeling again.

The best gift I ever got was an invite to share Xmas

I was stationed in San Diego and was attending a big Swedish church there. Not as much for the religious instructions but because of all the pretty girls. I found out that the girls in that church were a lot more fun than the girls working the bars. Mostly the girls in the bars were looking to make fast money and pretty much looked down on us Sailors. We were only there for a limited time typically so why waste time getting to know us only to end up with an overseas pen pal.

The girls at the church were different. There weren't enough eligible bachelors and we were a lot more exciting than most of the guys they had been dating in the church all their lives. We had stories about traveling the world and we had money for fun dates. We liked to party and nothing they did with us would get back to there parents or friends. (yes I have some stories from that time I will post on Literotica in due time. hehehe)

As Xmas approached I was getting pretty lonely. I hadn't settled down with any one girl and missed my family in Arizona. A family invited me to share their holiday with them. It was a week long celebration. I had the time and took off. They had a daughter my age and it turned out she was kinda why they picked me. She used her powers of persuasion on her parents. I learned the rituals of a Swedish Xmas, had some very quality time with a cute Swedish girl (and her girlfriends), and got some memories of my birthplace I will cherish all my life and a couple of very nice pictures (not X-rated just hinted) too.

I don't know if this counts, but my fiancee gave me my first computer in July, 1998. On Thanksgiving day, 1998, my son taught me how to surf the net with a free AOL disk. I went to bulletin board/chat room & met a group of women who have become my best friends & support group. These ladies have been with me through every bit of the last year & none of them ever met my son. I honestly doubt I would have survived the last year without their love & support. Best gift I have ever given was a trip to Scotland that I gave my son for his 14th birthday.

Thanks, everyone. I don't know that we helped with Christmas shopping lists, but maybe the reminder is that the best gifts aren't necessarily purchased items. It really is the thought behind a gift that counts most.

At the risk of being totally boring, I just have to say:

AMEN !!!!!

My absolute best gift was just two years ago for my birthday. All the time that my two kids were growing up, we were avid campers,,, every season except winter saw us pack up several times and head off for a weekend out camping.

Once they were grown and started lives of their own, then the camping trips ended. But two summers ago, they both showed up at my front door with all of the gear and 'kidnapped' me for a week of camping along various spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway. They did all of the things that I used to do for them, ( like cooking, tending the campfire, and offering suggestions for activities ) all I had to do was to relax and simply enjoy myself,,, and so I did just that.

One of the very special gifts I have ever received in my life was back in July of 1960. My new family was in an airport in Oregon, awaiting the plane which was bringing me from South Korea. That was the first day of the rest of my life. This amazing family had given me a chance at life, in a new land. And for this, the most special gift of all, I shall always treasure for each day of my life.
