I can remember a Lit not that long ago where by this time of year there where threads about Cookie Exchanges and Gift Exchanges..

The threads where good fun and showed true friendly spirit..

Where have all the good people gone?

Where is the friendships and fun and good spirits?

Thanks...but ewwww raisins. The Shortbread sounds yummy. I made pecan pie squares, not sharing. They are too good. The fudge is so, so good, but too much for just us to eat. I made six pounds!

Life has ups and downs. So do communities and, thus, so does a place like Lit.

I agree with Melody. Let's accentuate the positive where we can. Which is not to say that we should tolerate truly bad behavior, because of course we shouldn't. (For example, I'm not above bestowing some a**hole with the Lit equivalent of a scarlet letter should that be required. ) Not that I am trying to argue, especially with people who have 10x the number of posts I have. But I believe there are some great people here. There are also some curmudgeons and a few jerks, I know. But let's be careful not to confuse the two.

Actually, I just started posting here a little while ago and I have found 98% of the community to be incredibly sweet and welcoming. If this is a downswing, I can't wait to see what it's like on the upswing.

I find there are more friendly people in the Playground.
Like all the folks ni this thread. There's a lot of other friendly people around too, but they sometimes get overshadowed by the bombastic attention seekers that dwell on the GB.

I think threads like this make those of us who do have fun feel bad. I know I have some great laughs with some great people......Sultan, Mel, Kendra, Natty (AND he is even a lawyer!!) Scoot, Steve......my list is endless.

And might I be so bold as to suggest you create a thread for gift giving, or resurrect a previous one, Nightbird? Those of us enjoying our lit may even jump in and have fun with it.

Oh, and if anyone is handing out the gifts, I would like some snickerdoodles please.

Too many alts.
Too many people appearing to be the paragons of virtue while stirring it up behind the scenes... and most of Lit know who they are.
Too many people who don't front these people up, leaving those that do out on a limb.
Good people leaving because these people drive them out.
General level of new joinees having low intelligence, or only interested in one thing (though I suppose given the forum it's not surprising... but it was different a year or so ago).

I just spoke to someone who doesn't like to be confrontational. I am. Sometimes one is correct and sometimes the other. And maybe the wrong one is used at the wrong time. I dunno.

Too many trolls, too many idiots, too many two faced liars.

And yes before anyone comments this is an alt. But an alt created to protect not harm like so many. It was to protect the man I loved.

I am the eternal optimist, and during this time of year, it's no exception

So here I am, coming into this thread with fresh baked cookies (snickerdoodles, oatmeal chocolate chip, double chocolate with peanut butter chips, peanut butter cookies, traditional chocolate chip, oatmeal with walnut & cranberries...) and about 12 pounds of fudge made from my family's closely guarded recipe.

Books and music for those who enjoy such delights... sparkly treasures for those to shine in them... hugs and kisses to those who need them to raise their spirits... and a caring ear for those who need to talk.
