These damn Tv commercials...And what the fuck is up with disney they have comercials now:rolleyes:  Like a damn child really wants to watch a fucking comercial.......

I hate when they put commercials on DVD's VHS or movies i see them enough at home!!!

Quick duck and cover...

...you're the target!

"Mom can I have a..."

You know, I thought it weird when I was starting to watch a movie I rented and there was a Preview of "Atlantis" beforehand..........

The Disney Channel has commercials to entice kids to want such n such toy, or to eat at such n such fast food joint. It's all to entice the kiddies to want things their parents will have to shell out cash for.

Disney is all about commercial now.

worse than freaking wal-mart,,,

and they're smart with their ads, too

every notice how many ad jingles kids know word for word....

and it's not "Mom, can I have a ..." anymore, it's "But, Mom, I gotta have, everybody else has...."

My kids watch the Animal Planet quite a bit. Makes for educational tv, but now my 4 year old tells me I should buy Epil Stop each time she sees me shaving my legs. :D

I think the worst thing that they have on television are the blasted infomercials.... something you can not escape, even if you want to.

And they are things that you don't want but will be convinced into buying anyway because they are meant to be a lot better than anything that you have.

This is a crazy world that we live in.

Thank god that they haven't found a way to put ads onto the computer like they do the television, there would be no escaping them.

THANK GOD THEY'RE NOT ON HBO YET

What burns me to all hell is that you pay for cable and after midnight, 85% of the channels that you receive are informercials.
If that shitty shit can't sell in stores, why should they interfer with good programming to try and push it?

I've always hated the ad's they put on before a movie, not the preview's of other movie's but the ad's, except the really bad one that every cinema seem's to have for the local curry house, they always crack me up.

Especially if they are ones for places that are just down the road.... I went to see a movies last week and the first thing I saw was an ad for Planet Hollywood- that was a floor down from where the cinemas were, that one cracked me up. I couldn't help but laugh at that one.

We've always had ad's at the movie's but I heard that you Americans only got them a short while back..? is that true.

BTW, there is a tune that almost every Brit will know once they've been to the cinema and thats the "Pearl and Dean" advert theme.

Can you say, da da da da da da da da da der da der.....Pearl and Dean.

For as long as I can remember there have been ads when I go to see a movie but then again I live way down here in New Zealand. If the Americans have only been starting to get ads at the start of their movies now then all I can say is,

that is totally not fair

I don't know if it's true or not but I'm sure I heard that the Americans have only had adverts before the movies for about 5 or 10 years, but I could be wrong so we really need a yank to answer this one :)

Well, I haven't been to a ovie for ages, but when I was going to movies, they had them for the local businesses. I can remember them being there for at least 12 years, from back when I started dating, but I can't answer for before that. :)

It's actually been a fairly recent addition for me; I think it's just started around here in the last couple of years. So far, it's mostly Coke commercials, but I know that there's more on the way...

I guess I've been one of the lucky ones... until now. :(

Nope, in the "big city" here, the ads before the movie are fairly recent. In the northern part of the state, the more rural area, there have been ads before movies as long as I can remember. I have seen movies there 2 or 3 times a year for about the last 35 years or so.

I think the difference is the movie chain- the one that ran the theatre in the north was connected with a national chain years ago. National chains bought up the independent theatres and as they did, the same ads started to appear before the movies around this part of the state, too.

It sort of depends on just what you consider "ads." I can't ever remember going to a movie that didn't have "coming attratctions" and "Don't forget to visit the snack bar." Which are advertisements, In the 80's, I started seeing pitches for specific products at the snackbar, like Coke commercials and andy commercials.

I don't go often, but in the last ten years or so, I've noticed a loop of advertisements for local businesses running between movies as one crowd leaves and the next find seats (very similar to what I saw in English movie houses in the mid 1970's)

Once the lights go down and everyone is seated, it's prettty much the standard coming attractions and snack-bar reminder before the main feature starts.
