Well this morning I decided it was time to investigate the leaks in the A/C Ducting under the trailer. I didn't care to go back under the way I did last year. Too tight and confining an entrance. Instead I cracked the Mortar around a couple of the Skirting Blocks and slid them out.
After gearing up, (Heavy Twill Jumpsuit tucked into boots with the sleeves taped closed.) I crawled through the hole and under the trailer.
Oh so much fun it was crawling under there. Between the sandy ground and the subfloor there is almost 2 feet of clearance. Under the many beams though there is only maybe 1 foot of clearance. We're talking the low crawl here.
Halfway up the trailer I meet a problem. The intake for the A/C runs almost all the way across the trailer here and blocks the way. There is however a small gap between it and the skirting. After inspecting the ducting I wiggle past and continue to the main duct. Here I found the problem.
Where the ducting bends it has come open. The sheathing is split and the insulation has come away leavinf a gaping hole the size of my head. (The wire framework inside the duct is intact though.)
Back out I go to get what I needed. Then back under I go and get to work, but not before I take a couple of pictures.
The first two show the confines. In the second, better lit picture you can see the gap between the intake and the skirting. To give you an idea of the size of the gap in the lower left of the picture you can see one of those hanging shop lights with a reflector.

Now these two pictures give you an idea of the damaged area.

And yes I know I'm going to have to replace all of that ducting in the near future. I'm just not looking forward to it. I did patch the hole though, with half a roll of Duct Tape. Imagine, using duct tape to repair a duct.
Now the crazy part about all of this was when I was under there fixing the damned thing I can hear someone walking around outsie. When I call out asking if it's my wife I hear a voice asking who the hell I was. When I answered that I was the owner and asked who he was the reply was that he was a cop and I was to come out and explain myself. What the hell?
I make my way back out from under the trailer to see a cop standing there watching me. I crawl out from under and after having my wife go in and get my wallet show that I am indeed the homeowner. Then the cop asks me if I have a permit to be under the trailer? Huh? Now I need a permit to crawl under my trailer? I ask him what he's talking about and he tells me he has received complaints about me doing illegal work on my place. I ask him what he means and he just shrugs, he doesn't know, he's just the one being told about them. I ask him to find out what codes I've been violating and let me know before I dive back under the trailer.
I have a feeling I know what's going on.
