i don't know how into them you are madman~I think i suggested to cygan to pick up the Enigma trade paperback published by Vertigo a few years ago. It collects the 8 issue mini series. In a nutshell its the story of a guy whos favorite childhood superhero comes to life and they fall in love. Its actually a very surreal story.

apollo and the midnighter are considered comics "remiere" gay couple. They can be seen in the pages of the Authority every month but the height of the series revolves around issues #13~27 of the first volume.

Another series worth looking into is the Legion of SuperHeroes volume 4. Its about sixty issues long and a very hard series to explain quickly but it not only had a very prominent lesbian couple (Virus and Spark) but seveal gay characters and in a very surprising twist one transgenered character as well.

Other comics with strong gay and lesbian themes includ e the Doom Patrol,Animal Man,Shade the Changing man which centered around the story of an interdimensional cop who was planted in the body of a serial killer,his girlfriend Kathy and her girlfriend Lenny,the Flash and Codename:Knock out.

With that said I totally want to sleep with John Wessley Shipp...the guy who played the Flash on the tv show.

it aired over ten years ago on cbs and ran for 23 episodes and its still one of the best comics to small screen translations i've ever watched. Some of the episodes were run of the mill fanfare but the Trickster (played by Mark Hamil) , the Mirror Master (plyed by Keith Partridge) and Captain Cold (played by some guy) all showed up.

Cooincidently the actor who played the Flash, the afore mentioned J.W. SHipp is gay.

you can probably find the 2 hour pilot and the two trictster episodes at blockbuster. the whole series is sold as bootlegs at most big comic stores.

from what i've been told there might be another series being slated for the wb ala Smallville.

this is one of the funniest comics i've ever read. the whole series by grant morrison is outstanding and the Doom Patrol not only touts the worlds first hermaphrodite super hero (Rebis) but thier headquarters is a living transvestite street named danny.
