What sex laws or statutes would you repeal or introduce, if you became US President ?

What current (and in your opinion very stupid) serious or humorous old sex laws / statutes would you repeal, or what new serious or humorous new sex laws or statutes would you immediately enact, if you became US President and also had full control of Congress ?

1) I would allow gays and lesbians to get married. Maybe not in God's eyes, but at least legally.

2) I would make it illegal for a business/company to fire you based on your sexual preferences or sex life in general.

3) I would make prostitution legal nationwide. Providing that the "workers" get health tests regularly. This would actually be a good source of revenue for the government.

Very wishful thinking because the President can't repeal or pass laws by himself.

I'd repeal any law that dictated what consenting adults can do or cannot do in the privacy of their own homes.

I repeal age of consent laws and replace them with a mental competency standard and better laws against "sexual predation" and child abuse.

Most sexual offenses that need to "legislated against" are covered by laws against Assault, Battery, Kidnapping, etc, and don't really need to be addressed separately.

Siren for President!

I concur with all your candidate positions...you have my vote! :D

That's the thing I cannot understand.

Why the rush to have sex with young girls?

What ever happened to self-control, dignity, not to mention the idesa that man is capable of being noble, the paragon of animals...

After seeing Siren's legal views on what constitutes slander, I would hesitate to vote for Siren for as low a position as town dog-catcher...

Well for one thing, the President cannot repeal laws.

But assuming I had the power I would repeal any laws which had to do with consensual sex. Would I introduce any laws? No, we have enough laws, what would be the point? You can (and we do) cover just about any discrimination case, sexual, gender, ethnic, religion, age, etc., by simply saying that everyone must be treated equally under the law.

None. Only the Congress can do that. The President just signs off some of the time, circumstances depending.

But Binkley, (and I know it's a state law and therefore doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of this thread's title) tell them about the law here I couldn't believe was actually a law......

Age of consent laws don't take into account young girls rush to have sex -- IMHO, they often encourage young girls to rush into sex just to prove they're old enough to decide.

Puberty and demonstrated maturity should be the deciding factor in whether a person is "ready" and able to consent. I have no idea how to arrive at a consensus of how to test "maturity" but an arbitrary age or arbiratrary age difference isn't flexible enough to deal with underage girls passing themselves off as legal with the intent to have sex.

I can think of several underage actresses that I would not be able to identify as underage if they weren't public figures with published ages available.

I'm not going to go looking for some underage girl, but I don't want to wind up in jail if one sets out to deceive me either -- the current laws don't take that very real (and fairly common) scenario into account.

I think we had better run for governor if we really what to impact these laws.

I would give same sex marriages equal status with hetero marrage.

I would repeal sodomy laws since in most states each time we engage in oral sex we are technically in violation of these puritanical laws.

I would pass a law that forced all men to have one testical removed. I think is just sounds better to say "if you touch me again like that I'll rip you ball off rather than to say rip your balls off. Ripping balls off sounds grandiose to me while ripping ball off sounds very doable.

I had assumed that the thread starter meant what sort of laws would I like to see introduced or repealed.

Anyways, you are quite right Weird Harold. Our standard of 18 as being an "adult" isn't always correct. Some people (of both sexes) mature both mentally and physically at earlier ages than 18, and some take even longer to mature. Society seems to think that at 17 years, 364 days old, some magic takes place and suddenly, POOF! we have a new adult. It's not that way at all.

When I was single, and in the Army, and only 18, I went over to Juarez, Mexico one night with some friends. A lot of girls from El Paso used to cross over to Juarez and hit the clubs. At the time, the border was open to all, and ages weren't checked. So often, there were girls as young as 15 hanging out in the clubs. One night, I met an American girl, and she and I hit it off. After hours of talking, we decided to go back to the barracks. She spent the night with me, and when my room-mate came in the next morning, he recognized the girl as the daughter of my Sergeant Major. My room-mate informed me that she was only 16....of course, I was only 18, so this isn't that bad. But it just goes to show you that some girls pass themselves off, whether on purpose, or by not volunteering their real age. And trust me, she looked at least 20.

Shoot me if I am mistaken, but I don't believe governors have any more power to repeal laws than the President. If you want to impact laws via the legislative process, then you either need to be a legislator, a lobbyist or an advocate, not an executive.

Or get yourself appointed as a judge. :)
To some degree yes, but the judiciary has a lot more restraints than the legislative branch with regards to changing laws. For one thing, a judge just can't go around saying that this or that law is repealed, all they can say is that a particular law, in a particular set of circumstances brought before them in a case, doesn't apply, isn't constitutional, etc. - and they certainly can't make new laws.

Overall, legislators have the most flexibility and power - fortunately (sometimes unfortunately), the power is shared with dozens of other legislators. Overall the system works pretty well because of this.

My simple point was that "sex laws are typically state laws' not federal. It is of course obsurd to think that a single office holder could by fiat change sex laws but that the point aint it. LIt is a place to dream and be silly.

The president is certainly free to introduce new bills for Congressional approval though. I think I remember that being true.

Anyway, I would introduce bills to make sodomy laws illegal, to legalize marriage between homosexuals or at the very least remove penalties associated with such(in Alabama calling a wedding of two inviduals of the same gender a wedding can result in a year in jail and thousands of dollars in fines), and to provide funding for research into better contraceptive and disease prevention technologies for men and women.

I think honestly that's the best I could hope for.

I would repeal all the sodomy laws

I would pass legislation enaction full equality under the law for gay marriages

Legalize prostitution

Repeal any remaining state laws that allow for spousal abuse (not strictly something about sex, but which can allow for nonconsensual sex)

Enact better sex ed (less scare tactics, more practical information, such as the correct way to use a condom, full disclosure on birth control options and stds---such as yes, you can get gonnorhea, but it is cured with medication but hpv is permanent instead of stds will make you a bad person and scar you for life)

More money into better birth control methods

I would make it legal in all states to;

1. have sex over age 16 and no statutory rape for unsuspecting or duped guys.

2. legalize prostitution

3. make sodomy laws illegal, so no gays/lesbians would be arrested.

4. make it illegal to be a pimp and make it mandatory 5 years in prison for profiting off the body of another.

5. make it illegal to refuse to have sex with me.

1.Physically yes mentally maybe

2.Yes, with manditory health check ups

3.Make sodomy legal

4.Pandering is illegal

5.I never refused

6.Allow public nudity

7.Rapists to be castrated

8.Free condoms in High School along with manditory sex education and child rearing classes

Siren I'm not poking fun at you. I agree with nuch of your choices, just think that 16 might be a tad to early.
